The official Halo 5 "Why was I banned?" thread

Technically, you don’t ever have to quit your matches. You can always keep playing and hope you get the kills you need.

Is there an appeal for bans? keeps banning me for griefing, And it’s getting pretty f"ing annoying.

There is no appeals system for matchmaking bans. If you are being continually banned for griefing, there are some obvious questions to ask:

  • Are you betraying or otherwise injuring your teammates? - Are you purposefully and repeatedly suiciding? - Are you somehow setting up your teammates to die, perhaps by pushing them into fire with vehicles, or some other method that exploits lack of friendly fire to harass your teammates? - Are you playing Grifball?Your game history indicates several back-to-back DNFs for Super Fiesta and WZFF games. Whatever the reason is for you not finishing those games is probably why you were banned.

Hi
Ive just been banned for being idle as I had to collect a parcel while playing halo 5. I don’t know how long my ban is for, but was wondering if there’s a way to get unbanned?

Unfortunately there is no way that a ban can be removed. If this is one of the first bans you have had, then your ban time shouldn’t be too long (ban time increases with the number of bans you have had).

Looked at rohansandu43’s GH. 1 DNF is all I could find. In this case it’s 343 being a sh*thole. Again.

Enough. This is pointless. You’re only burying yourself here.

My gamertag is WillWallace13. This is something I wish to point out to 343 industries. What is the reason for banning someone who has simply left a matchmaking screen to the selection lobby, the screen that lists all the lobbies? Team Skirmish, Grifball, etc… Once again, I was banned for this for another 24 hours. Surely I am not the only one who has done this and has somehow been banned from matchmaking, all but Warzone for some reason. Nevertheless, it is a bit of an annoyance and is outrageous. This is not a complaint, by no means, this is something that needs to be pointed out to 343i.

You have several DNF on your records. The system looks for patterns of DNF then it give you a ban. For a Ban for twenty four hours means that you have a large history of quitting, betrayal etc, that is why you were banned.

Can you really blame me for quitting game after game because the matchmaking system keeps putting me in with crappy teammates?

Just wish to say this. No. I do not betray anyone, I finish as many matches as possible. Doubt a “system” can tell you how many times emergencies have occurred while playing Halo 5 and have to rush out of the house.

The system is automated. It doesn’t care why you quit, only that you did. It tracks stuff over a period of time and looks for patterns. Once you meet a certain threshold you get a ban (usually a couple of minutes.) and then with each further act of misconduct your ban doubles.

You can read the above as well. I’ll add that the rules were announced prior to the release of the game. If you choose not to follow them there will be a resulting ban.

To anyone who was banned for quitting, it is pointless to quit for any reason other than having to do something or go somewhere, such as having to use the bathroom or meet a friend. There is no reason to quit because you have bad teammates, especially since you lose any req point or experience boosts you may have used.

Well, got my first banhammer today. 2 games cut short for the first time EVER from huge amounts of lag. Server disconnected. Then, my internet cut out and I got the message. 1:28

Anyone else had this similar issue?

Well put.Nailed it right on the head. There is no excuse.

Banned for idling 1 game. I had to answer the door and speak to someone when I got up from the game but this was the 2nd game I had played this day so I had only idled out of 1 game. Reading this post it seems as if the ban happens after repetitive game idles. Does the ban reset everyday or does it just include previous days of play?
