Most likely that was where your offense took place; you can be banned from warzone, arena, or both.

6 out of your last 20 matches are DNFs.

  • "Idling through games, habitual quitting/suiciding/betraying, or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior."Does 343 auto ban you for the quitting or do other accounts in multiplayer have to report you for quitting?

I’ve quit Prop Hunt at least twice a day for weeks. I’m just not playing that game anymore; hide and seek games are not fun and Prop Hunt surfaces way too often in Action Sack. Honestly, I just go to AS hoping to play Husky Raid Meta Raid.

It’s an automated system. Once it notices your pattern you’ll receive your ban.

Thanks. So what’s the point of “reporting” for quitting early if it’s an automated system? Seems a little rash to ban me for quitting what I’m guessing is three games in a four hour span. Looks like I won’t be playing Action Sack.

It looks for patterns of behavior, percentage of matches quit, whether you are habitual or not. That sort of thing. The reporting goes to the reputation system. Which you can read about here;

That information is on the first post of this topic

So, I was banned today for the first time in over a decade of online Halo play and I’m pretty damn sure it was for an invalid reason. I was playing action sack (social) and it was the prop hunt game. Well, while invisible, the point is to sit and hide. This is the tactic I was employing, hiding, which is the purpose of the game type.

So my question is, if that is the purpose of the game, why the hell would the autoban be set to ban based off of “sitting idle”. Not sure if anyone can review this but it seems to me like that is one giant flaw in the system.

I was banned today from a match for Griefing. I have no clue what I did, or why this was there. I was playing fiesta and I killed 0 teammates that match and had 1 suicide (Fell off the map). If falling off of the map and getting a suicide is griefing, then why make that a thing in the game? I could see if I was purposely jumping off the map so my teammates would lose points or something, but I wasn’t… I don’t get it. People do fall off the maps when they are unfamiliar with the maps layout or aren’t paying the greatest of attention. My bad. Halo 5 needs to have a support team if they are going to have a Banning system. What is wrong with these people…?

The length of the round in prop hunt is three minutes, the same as the length before and idle kick. So in order to be booted you had to be idle (zero controller input) for longer than the length of a round.

You haven’t played Halo 5 or any game on that account. If you’d like to post on your actual account and a link to the match I’ll have a look. It takes several suicides for a griefing boot.

You would think so but that isn’t what happened. I was invisible for a round and was not found. When the next round started, I was invisible yet again and happened to fortunately (or so I thought) spawn right next to my hiding spot. I then hit “x” to “ride” in this spot and sat there. By the end of the round, I was kicked out with the “wake up John” message. I can understand why someone would assume the fault is on the player, with them either misremembering what happened or misrepresenting the info but that is not the case in my situation.

It is a fault in the banning system of the game, pure and simple. If need be, the video can be uploaded and reviewed by whomever.

I watched the video. I can link it if you’d like. Your three minutes started after you got in the mongoose inside the large box the second time. If you’d even bothered to look around you wouldn’t have booted after the three minutes was up. At the moment that is how the system works, however I do understand your concern I’m uncertain if 343 could extend the inactivity timer for a specific game mode.

I wouldn’t exactly say that the idle timer counts to three minutes before disconnecting you.
I can put down my controller and walk to the bathroom to piss, and come back to see the “Wake up John” message, and that I have been kicked for being idle.
It doesn’t take me three minutes to take a piss, especially if I’m right beside the bathroom. Now, I haven’t played Halo 5 in a few months, but I can understand where a few of these people are coming from.

I’ve timed the counter on many occasions. I even have a unlisted playlist on my youtube channel of people from this thread idling for three minutes and then being kicked. Feel free to review the footage of any match you’ve been kicked from for idling and you’ll see I’m correct.

I must have a poor concept of time then.

Dear 343,
There are millions of people who play Halo 5 ,but let me say that of all the games in the world that have a banning system, yours is the worst!
Even the original banhammer system was not as broken as yours. You are the only gaming company who bans their players for NOT playing the game because they have to afk for a minute. What is your problem with someone putting down their controller for less that a minute because LIFE HAPPENS? One time I walk away from a game to deal with my life and you not only boot me from my match ,but you ban me as well?

Well since you were kind enough to leave me a message in the form of “Wake Up John”, Let me leave you a message as well…HALO 5 SUCKS! I am NOT BUYING HALO 6 Unless you fix your stupid banhammer. I bought the HALO 5 CE at release and you ban me for a ONETIME OFFENSE?
Yeah my connection sucks ,but why does that make me get banned more. Fix your stupid baning system. It is broken.

Also, to the monitor who replyed to my post BROKEN BANHAMMER with your sarcastic remarks about not getting the joke…I paid money to have an entertaining, fun, enjoyable experience in Halo 5, Not be bullied, ridiculed or made fun of because my opinion of your game and system are not positive ones. Maybe, my friends are right. Maybe Halo 3 was the last true Halo game made by a real company that cares about it’s community. You people at 343 act like stuck up rich kids aho can say and do whatever you want, All the while making crappy games and expect to not lose any respect. Well, today you have lost mine. HALO 6 will not be in my future game library.

> 2533274828523706;4466:
> Yeah my connection sucks ,but why does that make me get banned more.

Because it is literally technically impossible to tell the difference between a legitimate disconnection and a deliberate one. If the banning system didn’t pay attention to disconnections, then people could easily force a disconnection in order to quit without penalty.

> 2533274828523706;4466:
> Also, to the monitor who replyed to my post BROKEN BANHAMMER with your sarcastic remarks about not getting the joke…

No one on the moderation team was sarcastic to you. You mistook the moderator’s forum signature for something they wrote to you.

A “forum signature” is a set of text or images that appears after all of a user’s posts. This is a very common feature on many websites and it has been for decades. The moderator who replied to your other post has a forum signature that links to a stand-up comedy routine, and the text of that link reads, “Life is only funny when you get the joke.” I have my own forum signature which links to some customization options for the forums; that doesn’t mean that I’m telling you, specifically, about them out of the blue.

In the future, please pay more careful attention to what people say to you. You didn’t have to write a long rant about how everyone who works at 343i is a terrible person who doesn’t care about the fans.
