Ah ok, that makes sense. I was just reviewing the DNF before and see that apparently I was idle. Pretty sure my roommate is to blame for that one.
I feel the lack of leniency and ban times are a bit harsh, but I definitely see how this wasn’t some fluke.
Appreciate the help and sorry to cry wolf here.
Myself and my four-year-old son plays Halo 5. A lot of the time he will join a match and whether it be a bathroom break or it being time to eat he will often run from a match. Almost every time I get on I have a ban 4 idling. Am I supposed to supervise my child while playing a video game
?. I paid money for this and this is ridiculous. 23 hour ban for idling.

As it says on the first page of the thread:
> **I shouldn’t be banned. My brother/sister/cousin/dad/mom/friend must’ve logged on with my account and done bad things. Will you please reverse my ban?**If this is indeed the case, we do understand your frustration. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep your account information secure and not share it with others who would abuse it. We have no way of detecting who is playing with your account, and if your gamertag is caught making naughty, you will be banned. Those are the rules.
Basically, rules are rules. And the rules state that behavior that can lead to bans include idling, quitting, betraying, excessive disconnecting, and excessive suiciding. As frustrating receiving a ban must be, the rules are in place for the good of the player base as a whole. The system has no way of differentiating your son’s honest mistake from someone purposefully quitting a match. The banhammer is pretty strict, but it is for the most part fair in that strictness.
I would suggest imparting the importance of not leaving games before they are done to prevent further bans on your account. Bans get progressively longer, so if your account gets banned again it could last as long as 2, even 3 days.
I scream bullcrap!!! This is not the first time, but unfortunately I wake up all excited about having a day of playing xbox one…and noooo! I am banned. How can I be banned when I just signed in? And many other times I have just mysteriously been banned…computer analysis has been proven to have error in many things just like humans…the bammer messes up all the time!!! Almost makes me break the game and quit being a halo fan…definitely should fix this 343 or whoever the servers are under
And it is very frustrating. …u should only match up people with headsets…and people without headsets…
I have no timer…just says banned lol
…this is why halo is not game of the year anymore! Playstation here I come

The ban system has one round delay before it bans you or after the next time you start the game.

The timer comes with the ban message and after this message it cant be viewed again.
Ummm…yes. u match people without headsets…this is a team game…u can’t be a team without communication. .if people are so ignorant to play without a headset…then match them together
I just logged in. Banned. No time limit was said on how long. Ur servers are wrong. Fix it. Ummm or don’t but I have had halo since release at midnoght…fix it or I’ll go to playstation and tell everyone how halo such now…we pretty much know…no game of the year for a long time…this is why too many problems with server

What was the exact message you received when you logged on today? Are you able to play any multiplayer (Ranked Arena, Social Arena, Warzone)? What about Forge and Customs?
Also, threatening to leave Xbox and insulting 343i isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Lost connection needs to be fixed, banned for 8 hours in a FFA game but I somehow still got my play list rank from plat to diamond, needs to be fixed ASAP

The Team Snipers game you did not finish probably triggered your ban, but it didn’t kick in until after your next game. The FFA game didn’t trigger the ban; the banhammer was just late. The way bans kick in so soon after games finish make it seem like you’re getting disconnected, but that’s not the case.

8 out of your last fifty matches are DNFS. That is excessive and the most likely source of your ban. As Chimera explained the system is on a one match delay, I.E. you fail to finish a match, play another, are forcibly disconnected and the ban for the match you left previously is enacted. As long as you don’t violate the rules by afking, griefing, or failing to finish matches you are not likely to be banned.
Ok, so after leaving 2 games because we were losing by a lot, I go into a SWAT game that we lose, but before the endgame screen I get “Your console has lost connection” and now I’m temp. banned for 8 hours. Keep in mind that I have very good internet and this “losing connection to server” thing has happened a couple times before resulting in bans.

The lost connection to the servers message is a step in the process of your ban being implemented. It runs on a one round delay. In your case 5 out of your last forty arena matches. The system looks at pattern such as, “leaving 2 games because we were losing by a lot”
The process goes like this;
- Meet Ban worthy DNF threshold - Play one more match - Be forcibly disconnected from servers. - Receive ‘ban hammer strikes’ message with the text detailing the reason for your ban and the length of it.
