I haven’t done anything horribly serious to deserve that! ! Do I need to contact Xbox, file a complaint here and there ? Really???

When you need for little spartans, then go when the game has finished or when you are in the lobby.
Then the bantime increase with every ban,so you most likley already had an ban.
Also dont waste your time contacting Xbox, they will send you here.
So the only thing you can do now is to wait until your ban is over.
Im sorry spartan.

A nine hour ban doesn’t just come from getting booted once for being idle. Bans are cumulative; first bans are generally a few minutes at most, and each next ban is longer than your previous. So to get up to nine hours means you been banned before, likely more than a few times. And there is no confirmation that the ban system ever forgives, so you can expect that getting banned again would be even longer than 9 hours.

There is no possiblity to check this for the average Waypoint user.

Playing the new Ghost Race mode in action sack. Racing well, in first for a bit, until I start dying to random BS (suicides). Which is part of the map, so obviously, not my fault. I’m a good driver, but even I can’t avoid every death. So just playing the game, I get banned after ā€œcommitting suicideā€ too much. And receive a 10 minute ban…wow. 343, you have the most unjustified RIDICULOUS banning system ever created. Just playing the game as intended, I get banned. Unbelievable

I reported someone for betraying me several times in a custom game… Several minutes later I get banned and it’s been several hours… All I can think of is that he falsely reported me as well… This is unfair, who can help me check this?

Reporting via Xbox Live cannot cause a ban in Halo 5. Xbox Live reporting strictly affects your Xbox Live reputation and account.
I’m not sure, but it looks like your ban was triggered from quitting Custom Games. Which is weird. Hopefully that’s an oversight by 343i which will be promptly corrected.

You can see what you’ve been reported for here. Chimera is correct about reports not being able to ban you from Halo. If you have an xbox/Microsoft related ban. The site I’ve linked should also address your questions.

If you were banned specifically from Halo 5 you would receive a 'banhammer strikes message." When did you receive the ā€˜bahammer strikes’ message and what did it say?

I have a 8 hour ban for suicides in ghost race like wtf

I posted this in the normal forums not knowing there was a support thingy… basically i know why i was banned, but think it was for a silly reason heres my copy and paste:

So i was have a good time with this new update play in the action sack playlist and in race my ghost kept flipping over causing me to die a lot. then all of a sudden i was booted out for dying too much with some message saying race is a survival of the fittest its about survival… yeah well in real life people can survive a vehicle flip especially if they are wearing armor.
After that message it gave me another message saying is was banned for 30 minutes because of wateva reason. i feel that this was a very inaccurate judgement, i was just playing how i thought it was meant to be played, maybe im no eSports player but come on man chill out… people die in ā€œminigamesā€ ever heard of splatter monkey, back in reach i would just suicide to avoid being killed…
here my clip for proof: Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

btw if theres a rule about no links then im sosig… just thought it would be useful…

Iam sure that 343 is aware of this and will bring a patch sooner or later.
At the moment there is nothing you/I can do.
Im sorry.

> this ā€œban hammerā€ thing is why I have seen more & more people claim to quit Halo. There has been a steady stream of ā€œformerā€ Halo PvP players move to Destiny, Overwatch & Battle Born for months now. seriously, why play a game where you can be banned for any reason. just my observation of the situation.

Do you need help or do you just want to talk?

343 please cut back on the Ban Hammer. I had to commit suicide in a game of Action Sack when I literally got stuck between a mountain and some trees with a ghost. The only way I could get out was by committing suicide, as soon as I committed suicide by jumping out of my ghost I was kicked from the game for dying to many times. Which apparently three times is too much! Once I got back to the main multiplayer screen I was then banned from arena with a message that said ā€˜I had quit too many games’. Which is strange since I quit a total of zero games! The only time I ā€˜quit’ was when I got kicked for committing suicide. Which means I got banned from arena for wanting to continue to play the game and not just sit between three trees and a rock for the entirety of the game! The time I was actually banned was very short since this was my first offense, but I shouldn’t be banned for such a small thing as this.

I am sharing this in hopes of 343/a 343 employee catching wind.

I was just banned. First time I have EVER been banned from something on Halo.
Quite frankly, I’m irritated.
I’m not coming to complain, whine, and gripe that you lift my ban. I can wait 3 1/2 mins or hours, whichever it was.
My complaint is I believe the utterly silly reason that ban was placed.
I was playing Battle Golf, first time ever playing it. Having a grand ole’ time, land mines got introduced. Didn’t notice until i met one. Hurried and met a second one. Literally spawned on a land mine and got booted.
Got into a game of… the ground pound one, I was playing in action sack. That’s FFA. Got done, look at that, I’ve been banned for ā€˜griefing’ my teammates. Awesome.
I know being banned is ultimately a small, simple, and meaningless thing and isn’t going to change the course of my life, but the level of disappointment that onset after being banned only 3 or 4 games into playing Halo for the first time in 4+ months was extremely disappointing.

I’m not perfect, or the perfect player by any means, but holy buckets. Lay off of the ban hammer. Please.

Hello I was banned (finally lifted) i think for quitting matches. I know this is frowned upon but i only did this because when my match would load I would get a blacked out screen even though i could hear the match going on. I don’t think it is appropriate if i was banned if this was the case

I was banned for 8 hours and 45 mins in the early hours of this morning, around 4:45am. It is now 10:08pm, at the time of this post, and i am still banned. I have tried hard resetting and singing in and out of my profile and no change. What on earth is going on, anyone out there have any ideas on this strange and incredibly frustrating occurrence?

I think the only thing Destiny bans for is quitting Trials, and hacking. (However so that is possible.)
Most likely he’s only speaking his opinion about what he thinks of the Ban Hammer. Which is perfectly alright.

I don’t think this guy is banned, he seems relatively new to the Halo community.
IF that’s the case, then allow me to say welcome!

He has two DNFs, which are not in a row. But I would think that if he quits a third match, he’d be banned for a short time.

Destiny bans for hacking/network manipulation, having consistently bad connection (red barring), and also possibly quitting Trials (don’t play Trials, so not sure). Overwatch gives someone a cooldown in Competitive when they quit (gets longer the more you quit, eventually leading to a ban from the season), but it also kills the match with no penalties for everyone left.
Halo 5’s banhammer certainly needs to be looked at and perhaps even adjusted. But that could be said about every multiplayer game. Go to Destiny’s forum and see how 1) Bungie responds to ban concerns (pro tip: they don’t), and 2) how many people hate Destiny’s ban system for restricting them for internet connection. Lots of people also criticize Bungie’s banning system for taking too long, because they manually review reports and make decisions as opposed to an automated system. With banning, it’s a ā€œ-Yoink!- if you do, -Yoink!- if you don’tā€ scenario; you can’t not have it, but having it is always going to make people mad.
