The ban timer is shown only one time during the initial ban notification you get in game. After that notification, the ban timer does not reappear, so if you miss the timer the first time then you will have no idea about the length of your ban. This particular part of the system could definitely use work, but 343i has made no comments on updates to the banhammer.

Ok thank you. Both times I have been banned, I logged on and found out. I haven’t been banned in game, is that the only way you get a notification ?

Since you’re no longer banned I’ll give you a bit of background about how the process works: Basically you would; do something to warrant the ban, play another match, be forcibly disconnected, receive the ‘ban hammer strikes’ message telling you why you were banned and for how long. Initial bans are short (a couple minutes) and they get progressively longer with additional misconduct. If you try to enter a game while you are banned you may receive a message that you can join matchmaking as ‘a member of your fire team is banned for misconduct.’
If you’re wondering what you can be banned for it is outline in the first post of this thread. If you have further questions just ask and one of us will be happy to answer them.

What the -Yoink- is wrong with this game, your developers are -Yoinking!- -Yoink!-. Kill yourselves.
Seriously, I’ve never experienced such incompetence in any game as I have playing Halo 5. This is sad and pathetic.

If you continoue to just swear around,noone will help you not even I.

Your most recent Arena and Warzone games were both DNFs. Assuming those were the games you played before bed, it makes total sense that you’d wake up to a ban; the banhammers kick in generally one game after the DNF that triggered them, but if you log off after not finishing a game, the ban will wait for you to log back on. You have to get the ban notification before waiting it out.
I quit out of a couple games, but got lagged out of like 6. Now I have a 24 hour ban. Seems excessive…

Quitting and excessive disconnects are both considered matchmaking infractions and can lead to a ban. If you tend to quit, don’t; finishing all your games will make it so that if you occasionally get disconnected, it’s much less likely that you’ll trigger a ban.

I agree that Action Sack needs reevaluation, especially with Tank World. I personally don’t quit games, even in Tank World if I’m 1v4, but the rampant quitting is a problem. My suggestion to you is to not quit, even if you are outnumbered. It may be annoying to play a game with odds so stacked against you, but if you are concerned about being banned then it may be better for you to tough it out.
It’s more likely that Action Sack will change before the banhammer, though.

He did not betray he did not quit he just took me out of the game and I think he tells me how to quit and give me ban

Ok few quick questions
- Is the ban yours or someone else’s? You refer to ‘he’ as if it were someone else, but it may be a language difference or you may be referring to the game as a person…so I’m not sure. - Do you remember the text of your 'banhammer strikes message?" You have dnfs 11 out of you last 100 arena matches which is just over 10 percent and might be enough to warrant a ban. - You mention disconnecting in your original post was that a disconnection from the server immediately followed by the ‘banhammer strikes’ message. If it was that wasn’t the cause of your ban, it is one of the steps in your ban being implemented. If you meant your DNFS are disconnects you might want to use the search feature to find threads about improving your connection.

It wasn’t until the 3rd match every time. First day was 12:42 and ended up being over 30 minutes. 2nd day: 31:46. Over 1 hr. The timers are not accurate and need to be fixed, but as I said before I doubt this ongoing issue is something that 343 will address even though it’s been going on since the game’s inception.

I don’t want the ban hammer to change. I just think it’s stupid to punish people for quitting out of a match that everyone else has already quit out of. It’s a garbage game type and boring even IF people don’t quit, which is why people are quitting…

I’m inclined to agree. Overwatch has a nice system where if too many people quit out of a game, it actually force ends the game, and doesn’t penalize anyone; it’s a nice system. I personally think Tank World is fun, but not so much with all the quitting. Just saying though, since you know that the banhammer is unlikely to change and no word on changing Action Sack has been heard, you should adjust yourself accordingly to avoid bans.

Could it be that since you are getting banned after the third game (with the system delay) that the initial time shown is for quitting the first two, and the extra time is for the 3rd offense?

That’s the running hypothesis I have. There have been a few similar cases lately. Basically if this is the case there is a flaw in the system where the second ban notification isn’t sent out because they are already on a ban (mind you we have no way to confirm) and much like the 10% working model I use it seems to be the case without anyway to ‘confirm it.’
Same things happened to me over been banned now for nearly five days because I got hacked out of a lobbie and booted off line and I get banned for no reason it said 8 hour ban but as I’ve said this was five days ago now 343 need to fix this -Yoink- asap

You have games logged each day for the past 5 days. You haven’t been banned 4-5 days straight. Please don’t try to make up stories; it detracts from people who may have actually been affected by the banhammer wrongly or too strictly.
