This is because, prior to this threadâs existence, too many individual ban threads were being created in the support forum. The purpose of the thread was never to get people unbanned; it is only here to provide basic information about what can cause a ban, how to read the timer, and to keep ban discussion localized to one place.
> > > > > As for the âcommunity keeps you honestâ idea, that is more a warning to people who come here claiming they donât deserve a ban when evidence suggests otherwise. And there is (albeit limited) evidence available to the general public in playersâ game histories. Itâs essentially guaranteed that some players who come here complaining that they donât deserve a ban are not being entirely truthful. Sure, some players may have actually been wrongly banned; it can happen, the system isnât perfect (no system is). However, I and many others are trepidatious in believing every âI shouldnât be bannedâ claim here because weâve seen clear cases where people say that when they clearly should be banned.
> > > > > If you believe you are being harrassed by any forum user, your best course of action is to use the report tools on the offending post. Truly offending posts will be moderated appropriately. If you feel that appropriate action isnât being taken, it could mean that a monitor hasnât seen the report yet, or that the post wasnât actually breaking any rules. Monitors are the only ones who can âpoliceâ the forums; normal community members, no matter what they say, arenât in control of what you say. However, it is within anyoneâs right to disagree with what someone says on these forums (so long as they donât break any rules). So while you may not like it when a community member brings up someones game history, counting out DNFs, they are actually quite allowed to do that. It doesnât break any rules, and therefore no action needs to be taken against it. And someone you donât like from here posting in other threads you make isnât against the rules, either (unless they break an actual rule in that post, but the act of posting itself isnât wrong). I went and found the particular user you were talking about, and though you may find them annoying, their posts didnât break any rules.
> > > > > A final note: pointing out DNFs in game game history isnât stat flaming; not inherently. If you say âyou were banned because you have 30% DNFsâ, thatâs not stat flaming. If you say âyou suck and shouldnât play because you have 30% DNFsâ, that would be stat flaming.

> > > > I have over 30,000 games of online play logged across various Halo titlesâŚI know what Iâm talking about when it comes to bans and Halo is FAMOUS in the gaming world for having the most busted ban system of all games. There have been news articles written about it. Most people who get banned in Halo DO NOT deserve the banâŚthat is why people are angry and that is why 343i acknowledged it as a severe problem in their latest news update that they discussed with a game industry journalist. There have been, flat out, way too many trolls and flamers in this thread. It needs to be locked, end of story.

Yâall simply come on the forums and start yapping off about everyone needing to be banned because of server issues that 343i recently acknowledged is a 343i issue that they are trying to fix. Yâall spend more time on the forums rather than playing the game.

> A: I havenât flamed anyone. Pointing out mistakes and inaccuracies in what someone says isnât flaming someone. Iâve yet to insult anyone on this forum, in spite of a few people deserving for me to do so. I respect the person, not their argument, their beliefs, or their statements.
> B: What I do in this thread is explain how the system works. If you have 11 DNFS in your last 20 games you will get banned.
> C: The server issues do exist, but frankly they are for the most part the seem like a bug bear. I see people quite regularly who quit twenty matches and get kicked from one and then claim they were banned for server problems. Iâve been playing Halo 5 since launch and Iâve been kicked about 10 times. Ten thatâs it. There are server problems, but they are vastly overblown IMO.
> D: You were banned for Idling not your connection to the server.
Okay forum cop.
So you DNF 10 times and nothing happens, my game freezes and I get banned for idling lmao. Okay that makes a lot of sense.
Thereâs like 20 threads with people talking about DNFs listed in their stats that never happened. Thatâs part of the problem.
Oh, and who identified you as a troll? I didnât, but if you want to call yourself out, then um okay.
