I remember when I first started this game. Didn’t even have a headset yet and def didn’t msg anyone. I played one big team game and won, I went through to the next screen to search again and next thing u know I can’t play arena for 2 hrs. Lol.
Instead the system looks for patterns that can’t happen accidentally.
Yeah, like the game dropping connection from the server and me getting banned because it counts as quitting?
If it can’t happen accidentally as you say, then it must be intentional, from your end.
STOP BANNING PEOPLE WHEN ITS YOUR SERVERS THAT ARE DOG CRAP

Do you just want to scream out your anger about the system or do you need help?

You have 11 DNFS in your last Thirty matches. 10 of those are matches the team you were on lost. That is a pattern. I find it difficult to believe that the servers kicked you out of more of your last 30 matches, than they have out of my last 3200 matches. If you have server issues there are things you can do about them (a quick search will help you out) and a thread just above or below this one that charts them.

I love how the people playing detective in this thread continue to flame people throughout the waypoint forums, have just recently started playing Halo, and tell everyone that they all deserve to be banned, EVEN THOUGH 343i acknowledged in the recent news update that severe server issues exist on 343i’s end and they are investigating it to prevent people from being unfairly banned any further.
I really think this thread needs to be locked because it’s seriously feeding trolls and the same flamers are going thread to thread bothering people. Another thread was made recently about the detectives in this thread basically trolling nonstop and getting away with it. For the mods who can’t see the pattern, it’s called “concern trolling.” They’re basically acting like they care and want to be super stern about the ban system, but are condescending, low-key insulting, and stat flame through the game history loophole that the mods have allowed in the thread.
Needs to stop.
Not naming the person because you know who you are, but one of you detective trolls keeps going into my threads and making sarcastic comments. You’re also going into other members’ threads and annoying people in there too. It’s like y’all spend more time on the forums annoying people rather than actually playing the game. Grow up already.
It was a huge mistake for 343i and the mods to start a ban thread and let regular members police each other. Shouldn’t ever have happened in the first place because ban investigations are always Xbox Live and the developer’s responsibility for all games. I have never played any online game where the companies encourage the communities to detective one another and hurl accusations and claims all across the forums. That just brews and promotes flaming and trolling, plus it will divide the community, which has already happened. This thread has like 3000+ comments and all it has led to is arguments, insults, and trolls flaming everyone. Ridiculous.
If 343i was never going to respond, nor help to begin with, what was the purpose to start this thread in the first place, as regular players have no investigative powers, nor knowledge to intervene, nor help in ban matters.

This thread was created by a moderator, not by 343i. The purpose of the thread is to make one central place for ban-related discussion to occur. This is because, prior to this thread’s existence, too many individual ban threads were being created in the support forum. The purpose of the thread was never to get people unbanned; it is only here to provide basic information about what can cause a ban, how to read the timer, and to keep ban discussion localized to one place.
As for the “community keeps you honest” idea, that is more a warning to people who come here claiming they don’t deserve a ban when evidence suggests otherwise. And there is (albeit limited) evidence available to the general public in players’ game histories. It’s essentially guaranteed that some players who come here complaining that they don’t deserve a ban are not being entirely truthful. Sure, some players may have actually been wrongly banned; it can happen, the system isn’t perfect (no system is). However, I and many others are trepidatious in believing every “I shouldn’t be banned” claim here because we’ve seen clear cases where people say that when they clearly should be banned.
If you believe you are being harrassed by any forum user, your best course of action is to use the report tools on the offending post. Truly offending posts will be moderated appropriately. If you feel that appropriate action isn’t being taken, it could mean that a monitor hasn’t seen the report yet, or that the post wasn’t actually breaking any rules. Monitors are the only ones who can “police” the forums; normal community members, no matter what they say, aren’t in control of what you say. However, it is within anyone’s right to disagree with what someone says on these forums (so long as they don’t break any rules). So while you may not like it when a community member brings up someones game history, counting out DNFs, they are actually quite allowed to do that. It doesn’t break any rules, and therefore no action needs to be taken against it. And someone you don’t like from here posting in other threads you make isn’t against the rules, either (unless they break an actual rule in that post, but the act of posting itself isn’t wrong). I went and found the particular user you were talking about, and though you may find them annoying, their posts didn’t break any rules.
A final note: pointing out DNFs in game game history isn’t stat flaming; not inherently. If you say “you were banned because you have 30% DNFs”, that’s not stat flaming. If you say “you suck and shouldn’t play because you have 30% DNFs”, that would be stat flaming.

You just played forum cop while claiming people here aren’t playing forum cop.
I have over 30,000 games of online play logged across various Halo titles…I know what I’m talking about when it comes to bans and Halo is FAMOUS in the gaming world for having the most busted ban system of all games. There have been news articles written about it. Most people who get banned in Halo DO NOT deserve the ban…that is why people are angry and that is why 343i acknowledged it as a severe problem in their latest news update that they discussed with a game industry journalist. There have been, flat out, way too many trolls and flamers in this thread. It needs to be locked, end of story.

You searched through history, talked about trying to identify individuals from my post, talked about members reserving the right to basically accuse each other of nonsense, dolled out your opinion on the forum rules, etc.
That’s what I’m saying. Y’all need to calm down.
Let people post about their problems with the ban system and stop trying to detective everyone’s posts.

Sources please? I’ve yet to see you do anything constructive in this thread. If you feel the official ban thread needs to be locked feel free to contact a moderator. Here is a list.

Already did, as did others. Why don’t you and the others stop flaming people in every thread about DNFs? Y’all simply come on the forums and start yapping off about everyone needing to be banned because of server issues that 343i recently acknowledged is a 343i issue that they are trying to fix. Y’all spend more time on the forums rather than playing the game.

You can’t play the “let my people post” card while telling other people not to post. It goes both ways; everyone can post what they want.

If someone wants to post why they think they don’t deserve a ban, then they can. If someone else wants to post that they disagree and think said person does deserve a ban, then they can too.
The problem is this:
A certain handful of posters (literally like 3 people in this entire 3000 post thread), continue to reply to every single comment in this thread with the following:
“well der uh seems to be um like a DNF in your history, so you deserve ur ban, stop whining it’s teh your faultz blah blah blah.”
Then when someone is like “woah chill,” the same few people will reply like a billion times saying they deserved it and that they should stay banned. It’s like you few think you’re special and above the rules here. If you few had your way, the entire Halo community would be banned, but I guess that’s what you want since the few of you are clearly flaming and purposely trying to annoy everyone on the forum.

No, it’s like the 20th time, within the entire forum, that you have replied to a post of mine with the same type of one liner…always a sarcastic remark about bans and DNFs. Other people have told you to stop as well, but you continue.

You’re painting with a rather broad brush.
A: I haven’t flamed anyone. Pointing out mistakes and inaccuracies in what someone says isn’t flaming someone. I’ve yet to insult anyone on this forum, in spite of a few people deserving for me to do so. I respect the person, not their argument, their beliefs, or their statements.
B: What I do in this thread is explain how the system works. If you have 11 DNFS in your last 20 games you will get banned.
C: The server issues do exist, but frankly they are for the most part the seem like a bugbear. I see people quite regularly who quit twenty matches and get kicked from one and then claim they were banned for server problems. I’ve been playing Halo 5 since launch and I’ve been kicked about 10 times. Ten that’s it. There are server problems, but they are vastly overblown IMO.
D: You were banned for Idling not your connection to the server.
E: You claim there are written articles from a reputable source declaring Halo’s ban system ‘the worst ever.’ Present them. Show me that’s the case. Support your claim or it’ll be dismissed as quickly as you wrote it.

It is technically within their right to say what they want. You don’t have to like it but it isn’t really breaking rules, and there for there is no reason why it should stop. No one is telling you to not post your opinion; you can’t tell others not to post theirs. Like here:
> No, it’s like the 20th time, within the entire forum, that you have replied to a post of mine with the same type of one liner…always a sarcastic remark about bans and DNFs. Other people have told you to stop as well, but you continue.
Just because you and others tell someone to stop posting doesn’t mean they have to nor should they.

Other people?
Cant remember a single person.Would you be so friendly and give me an example?
It normal that people answer your post, its also normal that people will use obe sentence more then once.
