Simply put habitual counters can pull a cable and ‘disconnect’ so in order to deal with the people intentionally causing the problems they had to widen the net and that will unfortunately catch a few people who are just disconnecting or have low quality internet. However, it takes quite a few DNFs before the system starts banning you and I have a difficult time believing that every one of your dnf’s is due to a lost of connection (something I am up to 10 with in the last year.) I personally play over wifi, but some people say that a wired (Ethernet) connection benefits them, there are also a lot of threads about improving your connection to the servers which you can use the search feature to find out about.

Just now, after finishing a SWAT match, my game froze in the post-game screen, so I restarted H5. After H5 reboots, it states I have been banned for 2 hours for being idle. I literally played one game of SWAT, completed it and got banned for being idle. After getting the ban message, then I receive an Arena Win REQ Pack for winning that SWAT match.
So basically, I got banned for being idle while not being idle and received an award for being banned for not being idle.

If they get too close to going over their server limit, perhaps they risk fees and server crashes, so when they get close to the limit, BAM time to start issuing out bans to bring the traffic back down to a safe operating level.
That’s the only thing that can explain these absurd and random bans that occur for no reason.
This banning nonsense is going to be the end of Halo. Just look at this thread alone, there are thousands of people experiencing the same issue and many have already sold the game and/or stopped playing a long time ago, and went to different games.

Idle detection often looks for more than just the occasional controller input. I’ve found that in multiple online games, just looking around while stationary or just moving a little bit every once in awhile isn’t enough to avoid idle detection.

The ban system seems to work quite well to me. I don’t quit/afk/betray and I don’t get banned.
I think your magic 8-ball is stuck sometimes if you shake it really well it goes back to normal.
