The official Halo 5 "Why was I banned?" thread

For 8 ******* hours

> I just uninstalled this 70GB waste of space from my One. The ban system is so beyond condescending when it comes to a customer service standpoint. If I quit out of a match, it shouldn’t be my problem. If I don’t enjoy suffering through a match, that’s my choice. I bought the game to have fun. If I’m not having any fun in a match, I can leave if I want.
>
> Losing is fun too, but when I’m up against an MLG party, the matchmaking system has failed, and I can leave. I paid for the game, and if the matchmaking system can’t be more sophisticated or fill in spots, that’s not my problem. 343, you have no right to ban people from a game we paid to have fun to play, just because we quit out of a match.

I agree, some seem like a typical adult that would enjoy a nice competitive game of halo after a long days of work. but guess what, there are a bunch of kids that team up in fire teams to spend every second of the hour around the clock, all day every day practicing to demolish other teams. they also study spawn killing spots in the game. so the other team unexpectedly receives a very bad beating. unfortunate for you because you had to run somewhere and hide from the rampage because 343 wants to end habitual quitting. although they fail to provide us with fairly balanced matchmaking game sessions.
on other words, if you are a try hard/onyxe player, then you should be in the ring with similar players, not stay-at-home DADS and soccer MOMs. Because, as you mature you tend to gain more patience and lose aggressive temperment, ultimately you require the entertaining experience and freedom rather than just winning.
Take the game Warframe for an instance, people can do what they want there is no crying kicking or banning; just pure entertainment. you see, that was the old Halo. Now games like Warframe and Destiny stole halo’s formula to continue pure entertainment, while halo 5 is trying to be more like the boring dying call of duty system bye-bye. those kids that raved over the almighty cod series are starting to grow up and now realize the game is just boring repetition the same thing will soon happen to this halo, just watch.

these try-hard players are the ones that advocate this corrupt system of banning, and 9 times out of 10 they are younger than 16 years of age (or atleast behave that age), when this game is advertising to be for a mature crowd 17+.
How many mature people out there would seriously make a big deal out of habitual quitting? none
i is in fact the immature crowd that always whinning and complaining about lesser capable teammates, or are infuriated over the fact that a teammate quits early. 343, you got it wrong this game should be rated for crybabies 13 and under. because if you really made a game intended for mature people, you would understand that in HALO it does not matter much to win or lose as long as we are all having fun and constantly gaining something; you failed with this game; you rather satisfy the crybabies with your childish “ban hammer” system, and the person who designed it forgot to consider halo’s main purpose or must have ignored it altogether for the sake of the crybabies.
343 just remember this, mature people were your main support when you first came out with halo evolved, while the children were more into ninja turtles and dragonballz. you are beginning to be disloyal to your initial fan-base.

note: many will all soon get banned for being idle because some opposing teams (crybabies) out there have developed cheating ways to shoot constantly in spawn areas. if i see anyone on my team spawnkilling the opposing team, im going take matters into my own hand and start teamkilling those tryhards, ill happily take a ban for that.

Remove friendly fire from grifball and thank you

If you quit three times in a row, you get a beautiful ban >:v

Explain why I should get a ban when this happens >:(

No one played this game

Simple, 5 DNF’s in the last 2 days. All games where your team was losing/lost, and you most likely rage quit because you were going to lose or were getting killed more than getting kills. (negative KD in each game, some with zero kills and multiple deaths)

por noob :v

So how about throwing in new players for the empty spots like your competition? Instead of banning people that quit after most of their team did… Thanks for the waste of time, really a shame bungie left it to you idiots

Join in Progress was a major feature in Halo 4 but was eventually removed from prominance in Halo 5 due to unpopularity. Warzone has JIP enable to allow new members to join and I believe that BTB has JIP enabled on it (don’t quote me). The consensus was though, that JIP should not be enabled for ranked playlists. If you want to leave your feedback on join in progress, you’re welcome to start a new topic in the Matchmaking Discussion forums.

I keep getting ban after a game is done, it give me the Rp and Xp point but, bans me for it.

Something needs to be done about the end-of-game disconnects. Only with Halo 5 do I have connection issues, and only after the defeat/victory message is displayed.

Admittedly I did quit 2 games (one was after we lost 2 players already), but I was banned in reality for playing full games and then disconnecting when it tries to go back to lobby. I know this is counting because it was what led to the ban message.

It’s already bad enough I lose the XP/R when this happens (not to mention a boost), but now it’s getting me banned? Dunno if it’s Microsoft or you guys, but seems pretty screwed.

Hey 343, maybe I wouldn’t have to quit out of a game if I wouldn’t be placed in a “join in progress” social assault game where it’s already 2-0 and my teammates quit themselves. 43 min ban for your guys BS of join in progress in an ARENA game type is -Yoink-. Not to mention getting into a game of social assault only for the game to end within 30 seconds. What kind of developer are you guys? BUNGIE WAS BETTER.

I get banned for completing a game without betraying people or quitting why does 343 care about quitters( I am not a quitter all the time), if people quit matches let them quit, if your teammates don’t like it, they can quit as well, that way you don’t feel frustrated trying to play by yourself to not get banned or get your CSR rank, it never affected people in other halos and if it does now just don’t pay attention to quitting, if you don’t get banned for quitting, then your team is not frustrated and the other team wins, and I also get banned for leaving custom games and warzone menus.

I just won a game of arena slayer, got to the post game screen and got my daily win pack then got banned for quitting. I had quit a previous game. But my total quit games including lagging out can’t be more than 10 since halo 5 came out (not counting warzone I lagged out of a lot of them the first few days ). Anyways, I’m just wondering what happened as this is my first ban experience in a halo game ever.

Can some one clear this up for me i was on random match won Team Arena game type was Giftball, my team won the match and at the end of the game it was on the loading screen and just poped i[ been disconnected and second message poped up that

i Quote the message on my Xbox screen
" At least one player in you fireteam is banned from playing Halo 5 Guardieans"

this mean if its a random player that just join that gets banned you do too ? i didnt even know any 1 on the team or the other side hers me like WTF i cant join another game and the noticed the tryengal on the playlist now

3/3/16 I was playing griffball after coming off a ban for 2 days played 3 games and left turned off console after having the internet drop out. came back after a few hrs of watching TV and have a 7day ban wtf is this -Yoink- this is literally the only halo out of every single halo since halo2 I’ve ever been banned. why was I banned 343 I need this resolved, I’m sick off being banned

343, It yesterday we had high latency errors in India and now that you fixed them a new problem showed up… Every time I complete a match it counts it as quit and I am getting banned the whole day… I would rather have high latency and lag than games registering a match completed as a game quit… Fix it asap… My recent ban is 30 min… I never got banned more than 9 minutes… Please fix it ASAP.

> The following FAQ should answer some of your questions about Halo 5 bans. We will update this FAQ as necessary.
> I received an in-game message saying I have been banned. Why?
> If you are checking this page because of an in-game message, it is likely that you have been banned for violating the terms of use and/or committing a code of conduct violation. It is also possible, in the case of an especially egregious violation, that your Xbox One system itself is now banned from Matchmaking. The duration of this ban is based on the type, frequency or nature of the committed violation. In most cases, Custom Games will still be available. In extreme cases, they will not.
> How can I tell how long I was banned for?
> Ban duration will be shown on the red ban screen as the ban hammer strikes. First offences are generally low and last only a few minutes, but will increase in duration incrementally with each subsequent ban. The ban timer itself displays times as follows - Days : Hours : Minutes : Seconds
> What types of actions can result in a ban?
> Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
>
>
>
> - Modifying your Xbox One hardware or game software and services in any way.
>
>
> - Idling through games, habitual quitting/suiciding/betraying, or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
>
>
> - Impersonating a 343 Industries or Microsoft employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.
> I shouldn’t be banned. My brother/sister/cousin/dad/mom/friend must’ve logged on with my account and done bad things. Will you please reverse my ban?
> If this is indeed the case, we do understand your frustration. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep your account information secure and not share it with others who would abuse it. We have no way of detecting who is playing with your account, and if your gamertag is caught making naughty, you will be banned. Those are the rules.
> I didn’t do anything wrong, and you can’t prove it. Will you please reverse my ban?
> Our automated system builds up a digital case of wrongdoing before any ban is enacted. If you accidentally disconnect a time or two, you won’t get banned. Instead the system looks for patterns that can’t happen accidentally. If the banhammer detects enough wrongdoing, you were doing wrong.
> Will posting in this thread guarantee my ban will be lifted and that someone will respond personally to every post?
> Unfortunately, no. We simply don’t have enough eyes, ears and typing hands to respond to every single post. However, the community will help keep you honest. You have a public game history for everyone to see. If you post you were banned unjustly, the community is in their rights to check out your history to confirm or deny your claims. Please, just keep it clean.
> The purpose of this thread is to keep all questions pertaining to bans in one place. Without a megathread for such questions, the rest of the forum will almost certainly turn into a cavalcade of ban questions.
> If you were banned and think you have a case, this is the ONLY thread you should post in. If other moderators see posts pertaining to bans in other threads, they will either be deleted outright or a kind-hearted mod might just move the posts to this thread.
> If any users are caught habitually spamming ban threads in other threads, we will consider that a violation of the forum Terms of Use. You will risk being banned here as well. We don’t want to have to ban anyone, but we do want an open, honest and positive place to post about all things Halo, so a thread like this is necessary.
> Thanks in advance!

Paid too much money to be banned for 9 hours for leaving only 1 game. Take 343s -Yoink- out of your mouth and try to see how pathetic this is. This is not the NCAA, it’s a video game. Looking forward to simply getting my money back and moving on to the next one. Me and everyone else I work with. Reconsider your career, WulfwoodsSins. -Yoink- you and the poor excuse for a company you work for.
