i did and still nothing⌠everyte i send a friend an invite i got kicked to menu and says fireteam has changed
So I was playing doubles with my friend, something we do regularly. I put my controller down to do something and not even 30 seconds later I was not only removed from the game but banned. I havenât played for at least 2 days if not more. I wasnât banned long but itâs outrageous that my first game leave of the day results in a 10 minute ban. I donât quit often in fact itâs the first time Iâve been banned, I just donât understand why I was banned under these circumstances.
Hereâs a good story. I was at the beginning of a firefight. We were still sprinting to first location. A friend invited me to a custom game so I âleftâ. The custom game booted me. So I went back and played firefight. Later, logged back in and played a glitchy infected action sack game where I got no kills and only scored 50 points cuz the game was too glitchy. I quit that game during round 2. Banned after playing a swat game as top gun right after.
So how does leaving a game for an invite mean that I quit? If the game literally sends me an invite from a friend, shouldnât that not count? Or do I have to tell the friend to suck it for 30 minutes cuz I just started a game and I donât wanna risk being banned? Isnât the point of not having split screen so I could play with friends over the Internet connection? Whatever tho, from now on I will tell ppl tough luck and never play any game style that has a star like action sack or team arena preview that way I donât glitch as hard.
Long time Halo fan here. Havenât picked up Guardians in quite a few months, so after getting discoâd from Halo 5âs servers all night, then leaving a match because of very poor match making and on top of that being a man down on our team, followed by another disco right at the end of the next match, and then getting banned, doesnât promise well for future installments.
We pay for the game with some of us even paying for packs further funding this game, and we canât even play it because 343âs famous servers canât stay connected? Xbox live works fine. Titan Fall servers are up the entire time. Forza running without a hitch. But we get banned because of this crap service we paid for?
This thread has been going on for over a year with the same exact problems and they are expecting competitive play by dropping our connection? I get wanting to keep the ranking system intact and preventing players from ruining matches, even though the match making is the worst itâs been in 5 generations, but the programming is unable to differentiate between the server cutting our connection or whether we lost connection elsewhere.
Seperate ranked play and apply your ban hammer there, since you continue applying it to nearly every situation backed by the oh so sweet algorithm that canât go wrong but does.
Yes, Iâm a bit upset after dumping tons of money into the Halo franchise for multiplayer to be in this state and claiming itâs our fault.

EDIT: The ban time didnât seem to apply, mustâve been a glitch, but what i said still stands. ikr, and i quit 1 match today, because of an unfair match, and i get banned for nearly an hour âfor quitting to many matchesâ wtf i only quit 1 match, and 2nd of all, the time is way to harsh, and the matches iâve played today to try to get my CSR are completely unfair, i mean wtf 343i, im sick of having many loosing streaks because of the âunfairâ matchmaking system, and i quit another game on social because of lag, honestly, there should be a seperate, watered down ban hammer for social playlistâs, iâm always getting unfair bans for quitting 1-2 games, or losing connection, etc

i am highly unimpressed by the way 343 has handled this. also the moderators have not been the most kind or understanding. I understand having to curb this to a specific area, but at least respond to that area. I am afraid to play any swat or whatever now for fear of a ban if the game dies. I have 1GB internet so my connection is flawless, hopefully i can get a reply to the issue I had though. I am still waiting

Having high download/upload speeds does not necessarily mean that your connection is flawless. There are plenty of other issues that can affect connection; up/down speeds are probably low on the list of things causing problems because most MP games require less up/down speeds than youâd expect. As for your âfireteam changedâ issue, again, no one is entirely sure what causes it, but there have been some reports saying that a hard reset/power cycle of the console fixes the issue (at least temporarily).

> > __Why was I banned for winning a match / quitting one match / quitting a custom game? *__You werenât. The ban system runs at least 1 game behind so your ban will have been placed for a previous offence. After completing your next event, whether it is a matchmaking game, custom game, forge session, spectating a friend or viewing theatre, the system will then show you a message telling you that you have been banned. As it takes more than a single offence to earn a ban you will never be banned for leaving one match, it will be multiple offences that have led to a ban being placed on your account.
Thatâs nice. So I was banned for leaving one game despite what that says. I think the last time I had quit a game before the Mantis game was a four days before that? I do not quit on a regular basis just due to the fact that I am aware of how âsensitiveâ the ban system is. I only quit if there is an issue with a game or I have to actually leave. It still doesnât change the fact that the ban system needs to be reworked. Two instances within 5 days of each other is ridiculous.

The âwonât be banned for quitting onceâ line is not well understood and a point of contestation. Based on what people who are banned say about how and when their bans kick in, it seems that you wonât get banned for quitting once for your entire record. Once you get 2 DNFs on your record, it seems that you become open to getting a ban at any subsequent DNF or matchmaking infraction. Not saying anything about the merits of this system; simply saying that this is how it appears to be.

That makes sense. But that needs to be changed to a daily occurrence instead of how it currently works. I should probably take this to Halo Reddit because they listen to the Reddit community more than this community.
Iâm getting close to uninstalling Halo 5 and shelving the game. I just received an almost 9 hr ban for quitting 1 match in my past 25 arena matches ! This is not fair, I had not quit a match for several days after my last ban, I had only one drop out in the past 24 hrs also. The banhammer is either broke or works in an inconsistent manner.
Why are bans so long ? Are the devs trying to drive people away from playing? You should not be banning people for such long periods of time, it is unfair. Why are bans so strict in arena, I can only play war zone, a mode that I donât particular like.
Have been playing Halo 5 for a while now and never quit out on purpose. Only occasionally do I need to do something important around the house (6 year old and a wife who is pregnant). This makes me become idle since we canât pause live games obviously. I think the ban hammer needs to look for more patterns of consistent quitting. The one that just hit me said I was banned for 21 HOURS. The offense??? I walked away to answer the front door and was away for less than 3 minutesâŚ21 hours for that makes me want to play another game or just not purchase any more with this kind of ridiculous ruling.

The ban system is not fair, it should be for repeated drops within a 24 hr period, after which it should reset. I do rage quit, but not very frequently. The game is banning people with low numbers of DNF,what about people who discount, or have to something more important, e.g a phone call or answering a door? The gameâs ban hammer is broke, some people drop a few games and get long bans, others drop several in a row and get no penalty. As I stated before the bans should be for repeated offences in row, and instead of having multi hr bans, just have req and exp penalties to discourage quieting, e.g you quiet a game and start another, you will loss a percentage of your reqs/exp.
I keep getting dropped or lag when i start pawning on halo 5. Now im banned for 3 days in arena matchmaking for quitting but im not even the one quitting. What a -Yoink- game whats worse is that they dont even have a contact number
I swear im getting cheated and lag out when i play but im the one being banned. My kill to death ratio is bad cause i just got the game and i playing with old friends from halo 4 who are already in the onyx league and im doing great. Great to the point im getting cheated n lagged/dropped out of games. Now im the one banned thats pretty -Yoinked!- up 343 industries. Are you saying there should be a zero tolerance policy then? If you ever quit you should be banned permanently?

More than likely you just have a small networking issue on your end since most of the other players in your Dnf games actually complete the game. Try not to run on wireless connection, Make sure your NAT is open, and do a hard reset on your console. Many players benefit from changing their console from instant on to energy saver.

Obviously, I didnât say that. As a result, your post merely serves as bait and actually borders on being trolling.
Please allow me to repeat my last sentence: âDonât blame the system itself when you already knew the rules and are culpable for repeatedly quitting.â You knew the rules, and you broke them many times over with no regard for the consequences. While I do understand your frustration, it is rather difficult to feel too sorry for you.
