i was playing halo 5 i was in middle.of a match im pretty sure one of teammates or other team kicked me out i was playing we were almost to end of the game then it tells me my fire team has changed left fire team and then i was dropped. I’m at main screen then it tells me a ban hammer of 19mimutes l has dropped. This has happened multiple times i didn’t kill a team mate i was in swat playing. i think this is total bs and 343 and microsoft need to get off their butts and get this fixed i didnt not quit so their for i shouldn’t be banned i have only quit one match ever since i started playing halo 5 that was cause of a emergency. This has happens multiple times in middle.of game saying I changed fore teams hows that even possible.

The only way a teammate can ‘kick you’ is if you’ve betrayed them. If you are getting a Fire team has changed message try hard resetting your xbox that usually resolves that.

Hard resetting the xbox usually fixes the req glitch as well. 5 out of your last 20 are DNFS that is likely the reason for the ban I assume you have since you came here.

No I’m not banned just that it didn’t let me use my req and some ppl were glitchy get which I haven’t seen since halo3

K, this is the ban thread (It’s for ban related traffic). A hard reset should take care of the req thing.
I have had the game since launch and before today, I quit an arena game maybe once. I did it for the second time today because my teammate in a doubles match quit before the match even started. Not wanting to spend twelve minutes getting absolutely destroyed, I quit so all three of us could find a competitive game. I played a SWAT match right after, then was told I was banned. It was for a short time, but it’s still absolutely absurd. I make a point to never quit, with very few exceptions, so I’m rather pissed off I got punished for doing it once. I do get DC’d occasionally, but that hasn’t happened in a long time, certainly not within the last week.
So we are being punished for having a bad connection? 343 what the heck are you doing. I even left my own forge game and I was banned. So your banning me for leaving my own games. Your automated system sucks and needs a major upgrade. A least have some human interaction with the system to make sure this doesn’t happen. Now I have to sit here for almost 2 hours because I got kicked out of a game because of a bad connection. So you ban me? I’ve been a long time follower and online player since H1. Wow this should be a priority to fix. I have had to leave 2 games because of a betrayal and life was calling (work). And have been banned 4 or 5 times now for bad connection or leaving my own custom game or leaving forge. Please use some sense and fix this now.
You can check my service record. I have 4 DNF. 2 were from leaving game. the other 2 were from disconnections. But they don’t say that do they. They just say DNF. Please please fix. You can look at my service record. I finished games that i was doing terrible at. I’m mean I was going into the negatives. But this. This system is just horrible. Please fix this.

The matchmaking rules from the beginning (described here under the “EVERY ARENA MATCH STARTS FROM THE BEGINNING” section) stated that leaving ranked matches would result in a short cooldown. I’m not sure if cooldowns and bans are the same thing, but from this you can see just how sensitive the banhammer is, so it would be best to try to not quit at all, at least until 343i makes changes, if they ever do (they probably won’t).

Yes, excessive disconnects contribute to bans. The hammer essentially sees all DNFs the same. If disconnects were exempt from the banhammer, then people would abuse the system by disconnecting their ethernets/dashboarding/turning off their consoles to avoid losses and negative games. Now, about getting banned for leaving Forge/Customs: that shouldn’t happen, and as far as I know it doesn’t. Were these custom/forge games played after games which you DNF? The banhammer doesn’t kick in instantly, it usually kicks in for a DNF after your next activity, so that could be why the ban kicked in after custom/forge. There is also this message from Bravo ~10 months ago on Reddit about custom games and the banhammer:
i love halo , but i keep lag out especially WARZONE , i have good teammate we win every game, but i still get lost because i lag out , you can going Watch my warzone history just one day i lag out 5 time, my warzone have 97 Winning now i have 96.6 Winning just because i lag out , i really love halo but i’m so said especially this week i lag out so much

Halo 3 has a much better and more fair ban system; the game warns you when you’re approaching a ban. I can play 20 games in row drop one and get a long ban, which to me makes no sense and is unfair.

ikr, 343 needs to get their act together and fix the large amount of flaws to H5, including WZFF, very few social gamemodes, etc, all those weekly gamemodes should be permanent instead of on a weekly rotation, the Ban system needs to be looked over, repaired, and probably overhauled aswell, but knowing 343, they probably will not address these issues anytime soon, and honestly, they probably don’t care that much anyways, maybe they do, idk, considering how we have had these issues since launch.

I freaking get banned for 10 minutes. 343, do you really not want me to play your game? I’m sick of this garbage. I would literally rather not have quitters banned than to have this trash banhammer place. I play TONS of halo, I’ve lagged out of a few and quit a few but I GUARANTEE less than 1% of games do I quit or lag out. FIX THIS SYSTEM NOW!

I can understand why the bans are in place. However when you get banned from one mode in arena, you get banned from all modes in the place list! Also what is the point of the super long bans? Are 343i trying to drive people off?

well, isnt what i was talking about, “However when you get banned from one mode in arena, you get banned from all modes in the place list!” and i already know that, i was stating that the weekly gamemodes need a permanent place in the social playlists section, but a previous ban shouldn’t carry over for a future offense, such as if you leave a game and get punished for it, it shouldn’t carry over for the next ban, if it happens

Most likely the reason for the “long Ban” is because of the profile that the banhammer has built against your infringements of the match making rules.
The Bans start at minutes then to hours, and then to days, depending depending on the frequency of those infringements(Dissconecting would be classed as quiting in the banhammers eyes)
So say in a week you “DNF/quit” 5 out of 10 matches, it records this, then in the next week you “Dnf/quit” 4 out of 10 matches, in 2 weeks that 9 “DNF/quits”
BanHammer: band for 10 minutes
You do the same again over the next 2 weeks
Banhammer: band for 40 minutes
And so it goes on, but then from what I can gather the more you DNF/quit the more sensetive the banhammer gets, and the amount of DNF/quits that you do triggers a threshold and so your bans become more frequent and longer.
Hope this helps you to understand that it will eventually get to the point that any infringment of the matchmaking rules will result in the banhammer striking.

So the game you quit out of was FFA Slayer on the RIG, 5/9/2016, there was also another game that is in your History as a DNF was Tank World, Community action sack on 5/9/2016 aswell wich was 4 games before the FFA Slayer match.
Now from what I surmise I think that there must have been some other infringement of the match making rules to equate to your 10 minute ban, possibly either a couple of mis timed grenage throws ending in a TK(or the idiot just got in the way lol) or a couple of accidental suicides in other matches(which sometimes makes for great theatre watching for the lols)
As this hammer does not reset all these DNF’s/ infringment of the matchmaking rules start to add up and becomes ever greater.
Also as the system can’t tell the difference if you have had a genuine interuption to your internet/dissconect, or just simply turned the xbox off/unplug your router, it counts this a a quit/DNF, if there was a problem with the actual Server then all player’s would have been kicked back to the matchmaking screen, or it would try another server to connect to.
