I researched it before I switched. It works better and I have less problems than with my Isp’s servers.

The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. You are claiming that Google’s DNS is lax in security; you should be the one to provide the proof. To be unwilling to provide proof of your own claims suggests either laziness or that your claims are groundless.
Also, about this:

> You are responsible for researching/checking the risk before offering this type of information.

Not really. People can say whatever they want (just like you are), and they can research their statements beforehand but they don’t have to. It falls on the listener to either believe what they hear or be skeptical and look into things themselves.

Still got banned for like 5 minutes after quitting my first arena game.

No, I’m basically telling you, that it is equivalent to going international rather than going home; which requires much more demands from your internet than going home

No again, I shall not hold any burden because I’m not the one telling people to open up their internet to dangerous possibilities of slow or insecure internet, you are, therefor you are responsible to not be lazy and check credibility of your own statements here.

Do you happen to wear a shiny hat most of the time? The only problems I have ever heard about were redirects which took you to a different website than what was requested. End user security wasn’t compromised it was just annoying, and that was a few years ago. I also remember having this same conversation with you several months ago when you first came to the banned thread, Are you still getting banned? I’m finishing all of my games still.

Banned due to misconduct. Not sure what that means. I played the game as I usually have for the past year now. Can I get banned because I destroyed the other team so much that they reported me?

I believe I wrongfully received the banhammer…granted, I have had to quit a couple times, but my internet connection will sometimes be lost immediately following a match, resulting in me losing any XP I could’ve gained…does this also count as “quitting”?!

While Xbox Live Support may not specifically state on their support pages about opening ports for games and services, I can guarantee that if you call up your ISP for tech support with online gaming then that’s what they’ll advise (after some other basic troubleshooting). I can confirm this for a major UK ISP as I used to work for one and assist people in doing it every weekend.

Not every network is the same, not every router is the same and not every modem is the same - there’s always going to be edge cases of network equipment that just won’t work well on certain ISP’s or even with certain games (TimeWarner when Halo 5 shipped as an example). Factors like router placement and surrounding equipment - cordless phones, microwaves, power lines, even wall thickness if it’s a wireless connection can and will have an impact on your connection.

Regarding this

> Dos, 8.8.8.8 is very volatile over the internet that will cause many cases of attacks and fake sites. Are you trying to help people or unknowingly directing them to have their network compromised with this information?

Please don’t spread fud. You don’t need to change your DNS for it to be open to hijacking, heck ISP’s themselves hijack their own DNS for advertising purposes. Your router itself can be compromised though unpatched firmware or low security settings. You have a certain amount of responsibility for your own network in your house as well, it’s not always up to other people fix everything for you.

Matchmaking misconduct includes the following: quitting, disconnecting, betraying, idling, and suiciding too often. Getting reported over Xbox Live does not cause Halo 5 bans. If you get reported just for playing well, nothing will happen. If you get reported and were actually doing the things the report (cheating, unsporting conduct, etc.), then your Xbox Live rep can go down, but this still doesn’t cause Halo 5 bans.

Excessive disconnects (even unintentional ones) can lead to bans. This is stated here, under “The Banhammer Strikes!” section. If disconnects were not regulated, it would open an avenue for abuse; people would just unplug their ethernet/router/console when having a bad game so that it wouldn’t count and they’d get no consequence. The occasional disconnect shouldn’t cause a ban, but if you’re disconnecting regularly then that could suggest a communication problem between your console and Halo 5’s servers. In those cases, you should troubleshoot your connection to see if you can better the connection quality on your end.

I was banned for “25:17”
Is this translated to “days: hours”, or “hours:minutes”???
thanks!!!
i still think I shouldn’t have received the banhammer but whateves…our halo forerunners are wiser beyond our knowledge.

The ban timer follows this format:
Days : Hours : Minutes : Seconds So you’ll need to remember where the zeros were to tell the full time. I doubt it is a 27 day ban, so it is likely 27 hours:15 minutes (if you have been banned often before), or it could be a 27 minute:15 second ban (if you haven’t been banned before that many times).

343 seriously need to re-do their ban system, i just got banned for leaving ONE game, and i get banned for 5 minutes, and it was on a community game, and i’m always getting banned for playing grifball, they need to add exceptions for the community playlists, especially grifball where betrayals are commonplace

“Not every network is the same”…This should be more than plenty enough reasons for people to feel the “BanHammer” system is flawed by not putting this in consideration during network disconnects. Although you may feel 343i will never do anything about it, there is a concern here.

You are providing an example of how our ISP’s can possibly hijack our DNS (with in-house advertisements). stckrboy, please explain to us how you think google’s would be perfectly safe without any risks?

Well, you more than likely got banned for DNFs on 3 games since 8-29-16.
I wish you didn’t get banned because that seems low, but the ban system is harsh. I know it is rough but it’s attempting to do some good (yes, I do know that this is not an excuse).

Grifball does need some retooling, I do remember that there was talk about the ban system being more sympathetic to Grifball players because of how easy it is to betray teammates, but I don’t think anything happened with that.

“Lost Connection” then I proceeded to get banned. I spent money on your game. Solve this issue.

well, i haven’t played for awhile, i come back, leave 1 game because of unbalanced teams, and i get a 5 minute ban the following game

3 DNFs since 8-28-16.

Never said it’s perfectly safe or without risk to switch, switching itself has its own issues with akamai (I’ll leave explanations on that for anyone that wishes to research what it is). Nothing is perfectly safe or without risk but switching in certain cases may be beneficial to those experiencing connection problems on an ISP who’s DNS is not reliable. It’s not a 100% solution, but as with any tech support problem it’s something that can be checked off a list.

Did it help? Yes, great, that can be advised in the figure to others with similar problems. Did it help? No, ok then let’s try something else. It’s up to you what you want to try out to resolve an issue. The more people that try something, the more data there is to work with and possibly assist in finding trends - maybe only comcast users benefited from switching dns or maybe a certain modem provided by -Yoink!- Media has a faulty wireless receiver.

Also, if you are trolling, then please don’t, because i just started playing Today and i haven’t been playing between the 20th and 30th, i haven’t played H5 in a week or so, and if i did, it was on grifball, so please don’t troll me by saying i had 3 DNF’s when i clearly didn’t, i had 1 DNF that was today and no DNF’s between the 29th and 20th, so, the DNF today doesn’t count, my last DNF was on 8/20/2016, not counting the one 5 hours ago because H5 froze, Please don’t troll me.

Judging by your match history he got those dates wrong, you do have a break in your history from 8/21 to 8/31. You do however Have 6 out of your last 50 matches as DNFS. That is more then 10%.
