350 games completed, 34 Dnf’s That is the pattern that gets you banned. You do realize that the banhammer has been around for at least a decade, right?

I don’t know why you are defending a broken system, I don’t get on halo with some grand master scheme to quit matches so I can get banned and then complain about it on the forums. I have a life outside of halo and its not something I play very often, but when I do play it I would really prefer not to get banned all the damn time because of the games faults. I’m not trying to defend the people who quit matches early on purpose, I’m saying this system punishes more innocent people than there are guilty people who deserve the bans.

  1. I didn’t say “it doesn’t happen to me so it must not ever happen”. I said that a server is unlikely to drop one person from the game, and everyone else does fine. I didn’t even say you had a large number of DNFs, but I didn’t look back that far.

  2. I never said the system was perfect. There are clearly problems. But the golden rule is, Don’t get DNFs = Don’t get banned. Whether it’s quits, disconnects, freezes, etc. the banhammer treats them all the same.

And for the most part, it should. There is really no way for the sever to tell what is a freeze and what isn’t, and if it can differentiate between a disconnect and a quit (or a freeze), then it can be quickly and easily abused.

I have a serious question for you. Have you even looked at ways to improve your connection to the servers, or do you just instantly blame 343?

That’s a terrible system, the logic is basically “we can’t fix the problem so we will just punish everybody” this is not beneficial at all. The drawbacks of this system far outweigh any benefit we get, which really isn’t any at all if you think about it. For a normal player, they get booted from playing halo for 15 minutes, and depending on who you are that can ruin the rest of your game time. for the people that routinely quit games and team kill, well its just 15 minutes then they can do it again. How is this solving anything?

Normal players don’t get banned, only those that quit or don’t maintain their connection. Who wants to play with people that quit? If you look at the Dnf’s in your game history you can see that it was only you (or you and joop) that didn’t finish the game, everyone else stayed. So, if you didn’t intentionally quit then logic would dictate that the problem was on your end as the server continued the game with the other players.

I read the original post, and I understand the point of bans. However, I accidentally left a match prior to it starting, (clicked on another invite accodentally leaving my fireteam), and cannot find previous offenses, just this one match. Please advise. I do not regularly or even often quit matches. I believe this was an error.

I have been banned multiple times and I honestly fail to see why. yes maybe I leave a match here and there but I don’t leave matches that often. I was literally just playing a game where I was MVP and I completed the match and for some absurd reason this game decided that maybe I should get banned for doing exactly what the tell me to do, complete a match. what the hell halo 5. this is getting really -Yoink!- old and turns me away from the game. halo is my favorite game of all time and it honestly is just going downhill since Bungie left. congratulations Microsoft for trying to make halo as -Yoink- as call of duty.

What was the exact message you received?

I went through a quite a bit of your match history and only saw one DNF. I think you are the first person who was actually honest about only quitting one match that I’ve seen. Thank you for that.

It said I had been banned for leaving multiple games. I’m back in now, but I don’t want to be further penalized in the future because I have had a ban.

Right because with 3 letters in a game history report that doesn’t show what has happened means you quit all the time. That logic tho!

What does it mean when I go into arena, or any game type, and it says “could not find server suited for one of your fireteam members,” but I’m the only one there? How do I join with randoms?

Usually it is solved by a hard reset of your console.

No, but when everyone else can complete the game it means that you either left or you have a problem on your end.

Only 24 Dnf’s out of 570 games shouldn’t be enough for a ban unless you betray or suicide quite a lot, or are being reported. Might want to check your reputation on the xbox live enforcement page.

So people should be punished for network issues that they have no control over? Seems fair. Dude I get what your saying about quitters but you honestly can not say it way to sensitive on what is considered quitting.

I was just playing Warzone and I was doing well but when I got my lvl 3reg it didn’t change to the guns I wanted to use so I quit shut down the system and restated then I tried 2more times and the same thing happens the 3rd time I got banned wtf is that since when do you get banned from Warzone how is it that a game is 10month in and still has problems no way I’m preordering h6 or halo wars 2 fix your -Yoink- up game 343

Since always, it has a disclaimer that clearly states “matchmaking rules in effect”.

If you look at the Dnf’s in your game history you can see that it was only you (or you and joop) that didn’t finish the game, everyone else stayed. So, if you didn’t intentionally quit then logic would dictate that the problem was on your end as the server continued the game with the other players.

In a way…yes. You should do everything you can to make your connection better and there are thousands of posts and videos on the internet about this. The system has to be that way, it can’t detect if you unplug your router.

I have quit many times never have I got banned from Warzone that must have been just add

The server doesn’t know how or why you left the game, and it’s nearly impossible for the banhammer to do so. The game wouldn’t know if:

  • You left via the quit button
  • You disconnected due to your Internet connectivity
  • Your Ethernet cable was pulled out
  • Your router/modem was reset
  • Xbox LIVE servers crashed
  • You dashboarded and closed the app
  • You power off your Xbox
  • You hard reset your Xbox. All except the very first one would give the implication that you “disconnected” from the game. So the minute you have the banhammer forgive disconnects, all I have to do is pull my Ethernet cable, and Oops I disconnected! I need to be forgiven!
