So I just got banned for absolutely NO REASON after finishing a game of super fiesta and the screen went to the home screen I didn’t even press any buttons or anything and I go back into arena multiplayer and it said I’m banned for over 23 HOURS!!! What in the hell is that -Yoink-!!! I was banned last night for over 8 hours because of the same thing!!! It was fairly late so I just went to sleep but still… I’ve been banned before because of this happening before but never for an entire day… Just a few hours at the most. But this is absolutely ridiculous most likely gonna bring this game back tomorrow unless y’all can fix this crap from happening to players that do nothing wrong. I rarely ever leave a match or teamkill and I get punished for nothing… This is insane getting kicked out of a game and banned for an entire day that I pay to play…for no reason…I’m out

SO umm that’s false its 7 games it says DNF over the last 4 days (since 8-21-2016), over 30 games total in the past 4 days and 7 of them I either left because we were getting wrecked by some pro team and who would want to deal with that (that happened couple times I remember)? Or something like I said happened where I was just put in the home screen after a game was finished and I get banned. It doesn’t even matter if I get banned for something so ridiculous. the banhammer is completely broken… I would understand like and hour or maybe 2 AT THE MOST but being banned for over 23 HOURS for not finishing under 25% of the matches ive played over the past 4 days? and not even all of them I quit… its just cruel and WAY to harsh of punishment to us who love to play. Like I said I would understand getting banned for like 2 hours tops if you quit or teamkill in over like half the games you’ve played that day but seriously 23 hours is insane…

if i pay £50 for a game i expect a few quits now and then to be okay, just seeing how many people are effected by this bulls**t shows how big the problem is. these are the people who just decided to post about it, how many others suffered in silence. not asking for alot just sort out this strict bans, they serve no purpose other than stopping people play your (critically judged) game in the first place.

I think what he meant to say was that you had 12 DNFs between Arena and Warzone since 8/22/2016. Even if all of them were not purposeful quits, the banhammer views all DNFs as equal, so excessive disconnects could still trigger a ban.

True enough, none of us can know for sure (without DVR recording of the the DNF) if a DNF on someone’s record is a quit or some kind of disconnect.
However, we can play this game all day and not get anywhere: how do you know that everyone who posts here claiming disconnects is telling the truth? And for all the people who do actually disconnect instead of pressing “Leave game”, how do you know that they didn’t just pull their ethernet, or quit to dashboard, or turn off their xbox? Believing everyone who says they disconnect just because they say it would be naive.

The paid x for the game argument doesn’t really hold up, you essentially purchased a license when it comes to multiplayer. You have a license to play Halo 5’s multiplayer on the 343’s servers which they can revoke pretty much at their leisure. In this case they set out standards which can be found in the first post of this thread. In your case you have 101 matches played and 13 DNFS. That is more than 10% of your matches.
I can’t believe this I have been banned for leaving in the match intermission this sucks 343 fix this! It’s not fair halo reach didn’t do this for leaving after completing a match without even starting the next one!

Click on all games, not just arena. If you keep quitting you will keep getting banned, and the duration will increase every time.

#1 I looked at his game history. #2 He admitted he did.
This has happened twice now… I don’t quit games. I’ve had a ban hammer hit me for no reason and it’s getting irritating. If a 343 employee sees this, how can I get these marks removed so i can continue to play?

all these -Yoinking!- idiots saying you have quit so many in so many matches, nope my connection dropped, i think i quit mabie 2 of them because i had to go out, thanks for telling me that im only paying for the licence i wont be playing nor buying halo again, not being ripped off and getting -Yoink- all out of it
Hey, my halo 5 appears to be broken in that it freezes for a half second or so every 5 seconds. Because of this I’ve had to leave one arena game and one warzone game where the freezing was getting unplayable. I got hit with the banhanmer in arena even though I can’t remember the last time I team killed or left a game other than this one (maybe a couple of games a few months back when I was having WiFi issues). One any idea why my game is stuttering because its unplayable and two is there any way to clear the ban/repent for my so called sins of leaving a broken game, cheers.

I didn’t say that you quit. I said you had DNFS. The system doesn’t care why you left the match just that you left the match. If you are having connection issues, there are many threads about improving your connection or reducing the chance of disconnects and a search feature at the top to help you find them.

Posts can’t be deleted, but I’m sure one of the mods will be kind enough to lock it. I’m not sure what is up with your freezing issue, you might consider posting in the h5 support thread about that (Minus the ban related stuff.)
This happened to me a while ago because I quit one game, the my server got weird and kicked me and I got banned for 10 hours!

Paying for a license to play a game applies to every video game ever; it’s not something specific to Halo or 343i. Every game is owned by it’s developer and publisher; when you purchase a game, you purchase a license to use that property for yourself (with stipulations, of course, like don’t make copies of it to sell on your own). For single player games, all you need to run it is the software on the disk or download, so essentially those licenses last forever. But with games that have multiplayer, the license only lasts as long as the game companies let it. This includes temporarily/permanently banning players from multiplayer, and also includes when game devs inevitably shut down servers for those games.
Example: I purchased Halo 2, but they shut the servers down on the original Halo 2 some time ago. Just because they took away my ability to play Halo 2 multiplayer doesn’t mean I can get a refund or sue them, because the multiplayer was never mine to begin with. I was just allowed to play it.

Could somebody please explain to me why it is when the server drops me from a game I get banned. I didn’t do anything wrong and this is happening quite frequently. This has happened far to many times it is really beginning to annoy me. Please fix this issue of your ban system because it is obviously flawed

Can you point out in your game history the most recent game where you experienced a server drop?
