I was recently given a 3 day for, dropping a match by accident (I joined a friend during a match). Is it possible to get this ban reversed? The long bans in the games are ridiculous and don’t work fairly. I recently played over a dozen match of arena without dropping a game, why I am getting such a lengthy ban?

I count nine DNFS for you this month alone. In order to get to a three day ban you would have to have been banned myriad times. My understanding is that the bans double with each occurrence. I.E. I quit 5 percent of my matches and get banned I get a two minute ban or so. The next one is 4, after that 8 etc. If you keep quitting the bans get pretty substantial.

Then why is it that other people can quit several games in a row and not get banned? This ban system is gonna drive away players, you should be getting banned for repeated drops , not occasional quits.

I’ve been dropped from multiple games while on Halo five, but doesn’t happen on other games, are there new connection standards that I can test, since my Xbox one online test say I’m good but clearly something is happening, current test show pin at .79ms 52 mbps download and 5.21 upload

This has been driving me mad for quite some time, I keep loosing connections to my games after I finish them and dont get the XP or req points, on top of this I get banned for ‘quitting too many matches’, althought I have had a slight rant I am also hoping this topic could be a means of finding a solution to this as its quite frustrating, I personally think we should just Grav Hammer the Ban Hammer. Any thoughts?
P.s Its quite difficult as im trying to move up in the divisions for FFA and it isnt helping when im not getting anywhere with the ranking because it does not process the game results.

I took a hiatus from playing Halo 5 for a really long time after release. I started playing again about a month ago. I played a few games and then during a game it was 2v4 so I quit. Played a couple more games and then xbox one crashed at the very end of the game as we won 3v4. Booted the game back up and I am banned… That was irritating but oh well, it is what it is. The ban only last 5 minutes and I was not that mad about it but now I have been playing for a few weeks, staying in all games no matter how frustrating. I have the “Matchmaking rules in effect for misconduct” What exactly does this mean? When will I be “Normal”. I find it odd that I was banned so harshly and quickly but the last 2 weeks I have been playing a lot I always seem to be in a game 3v4 or 2v4 or 3v3 etc…

What do you mean by “I have the ‘Matchmaking rules in effect for misconduct’”? This is the message that appears on every playlist for everyone as the reminder and disclaimer that things like quitting, idling, betraying, and intentional suicides are bad. It’s not an indicator that you are on probation or anything like that.

So this has been going on for as long as the game has been around. I will get banned when I back out of the matchmaking lobby. How ridiculous is that? THAT needs to be fixed. I mean, I play a complete match, I get the carnage report. I back out of the lobby to play a different game type. Bam! Banhammer. It happens so frequently that now I’m up to an 8 hour ban. Come on, get this garbage cleaned up already!!!

You think you got it bad,Ban Hammer stikes i get 7 DAYS for nothing

The banhammer is too harsh sometimes. People just want to play some halo and have some fun but you ban them for hours. It just pushes players away. Last time I was banned for more than 5 plus hours I stopped playing halo for a month. I’ve never been banned from a game so long that I rarely play.

@xoxBradZxox, saying you have a 7 day ban for nothing your service records states differently, you have 10 DNF’s from your last 30 games, that is a 33% DNF rate and a few of them ar back to back, to get a 7 Day Ban you must haqve quit numerous times before, and had numerous bans ranging from hours to day’s, and if your last 30 games are anything to go by then I would class that as “Habitually quitting”. This is in Arena alone, Warzone on the other hand states 7 DNF’s out of 30 games, that is a 23% DNF rate.
Now if you say that they are all due to dissconnects then I would have to say that there is somthing wrong with the connection on your side, if it was server side and the whole team was kicked back to the lobby the game does not get recorded at all and a DNF will not show on your service record.
Each and every DNF/quit/other infraction of Matchmaking rules will increse the time served for a Ban, these do not reset, and most likely the threshhold to when a ban is triggered gets smaller and smaller, I.E. quit/DNF ONE game, complete another to finish, then you will be banned again.
TLDR: Don’t quit, check internet connection for packet loss, cycle router on/off to get a fresh connection, forward ports on router, if wireless go wired.

I don’t think it’s fair for people to simply say “check your connection” or “get better internet”. I live in the middle of a national forest in a tiny town in oregon. I get booted from matches all the time due to Internet problems and every single time I get banned. Even though it is only a 2-10 minute ban, it is still very upsetting. Saying that getting booted due to connection is still ruining other people’s enjoyment is absurd. What about my enjoyment? Do you think I enjoy getting booted from matches? There needs to be a better system in place to detect actual quitting and disconnects.

Well to explain the “I will get banned when I back out of the matchmaking lobby.” is the banhammer kicking in and issueing your ban, If you are up to an 8 hour ban then you have quit/DNF/infringed on Matchmaking rules in the past and this has accumilated to the “profile” that the banhammer has compiled about your gameplay.
It dosn’t need to be fixed as it is working as intented by 343i.
So getting back your point of “get this garbage cleaned up already!!!” there is nothing to get cleaned up, If you quit/DNF/betray/idle-afk in you matches you are commiting any one of the Matchmaking rules then this will go against you, as most likley it has done in the past to warrant an 8hour ban and you are only bringing the banhammer on yourself.
Your service record shows how many DNF’s you have aswell, over the last 5 days you have atleast 1 DNF per day.
Your actions dictate how you play, If you quit/DNF/betray/idle-afk then expect to have to pay the price(banned), if you don’t like the rules then it’s simple don’t play.
343i’s game, 343i’s rules.

I do agree with you that there should be a better system in place to differentiate between proper dissconnects and someone hitting the quit button, sadly haveing your internet suddenly going down is exactly the same as someone pulling their ethernet cable from their Xbox, which did happen alot in other Halo’s, this also simulates the LAg switch phenomenom in nearly all first person shooter’s, as this can and will give the “switcher” an advantage over the other players.
With regards to your connection I had some friends in the UK who only had a 2mb down connection and 750K upload, and they skittered all over the maps of any FPS(and I can sympathise with your predicament)
The best way I can think of to try and get a stable connection is to cycle your router often(off/on) so as it creates a new connection to the internet each time, if wireless connected go wired, and look to port fowarding on you router also use speedtest.net to get an accurate down and up indication, also use the ping test on the same site, this will show how much packet loss and jitter you have on your connection.
(packet loss indicates how much “packets” of ininformation is being lost to and from host and server)
(jitter indicates how stable you internet line/connection actually is)
Hope this helps you somewhat.

The problem being is that the Banhammer can’t make the difference between someone pressing the quit button, having their internet throw a hissy fit!, or just unpluging their ethernet cable, all what the server registers is that you/your device is not their and receiving infomation, I can imagine the conversation going somethin like this;
343i SERVER: Hi welcome to Halo 5, have a cookie, is that packet for me?
YOUR Xbox: Hi 343i SERVER I’m here and ready to play, yes this packet is for you.
343i SERVER: Well enjoy you time with us at SerVer CENTRAL, hope you have a great time
YOUR Xbox: Well gee thanks 343i SER…vER, I… Will have a…
343i SERVER: Hello?.. Hello “YOUR Xbox”, are you still there?? Hello? HELLOOOOOO?
343i SERVER: Damn they never stay long enough to enjoy the cookies an milk I get ready for them after the match “sigh” oh well onto the next.
343i SERVER: Hi welcome to Halo 5, have a cookie, is that packet for me?

Looking at your service record you do have alot of DNF’s in you last 10 matches, (4 of them back to back), If this is because of you keep losing connection I would say try and trouble shoot your router, cycle it(off/on) so it gets a fresh connection to the internet, try port forwarding, and also try a ping test, this will tell you if you have any packet loss or jitter on your connection, this can and will have an effect on how stable your connection is, even if you have a good down/up speed.

I play 1 game and at the end of it it says I’m banned all I cAN PLAY IS 1 GAME PER HOUR WITH THIS BAN HAMMER but before I quit like 13 games and got A 9 MIN BAN I cant even play 1 game without getting banned for this pay to win game because I yell when we score lol this game would perma ban me if it was rocket league lol 30 min countdown to play next game just cause I cheer and my kenixt is on lol greed pay to win game -Yoink- on true halo fans from day 1 -Yoink- #$#

Well looking at you service history most likely the games that led to the initial ban were the 4 games you DNF’d on the 2/4/16, then the sporadic DNF games after that contributed to the overall profile that the banhammer has of you.
Also you have your Kinect Mic on, most likely it’s that other players can hear what is going on around you when you ar playing, I.E Kettle being switched on, another TV playing in the background, the Gameplay coming from your TV and echoing through you mike causing a double annoyance. If this happens alot alot of the other players will mute you because of the annoying background noise being picked up by the Kinect Mic, Headset Mics generally do not do that. If you get Muted enough times you would likely get a communication ban.
TLDR: Have a little consideration about the Mic issue and stop quiting games then you would not get banned so much, If you can’t or won’t do that then don’t play the game because your bans will get longer.

This is dumb I just bought this game sketchy that 343 made it. I wasn’t wrong, played not even 10 matches and my friend got banned because he’s learning the maps and controls he’s killed me a couple times and fallen off the edge a few times ON ACCIDENT. This is why bungie created a social playlist because some people like to enjoy the game without tryhards everywhere. Bring back real halo and unban my friend.

If you read my previous post i state i do not quit, when the the game finishes and the scores come up thats when it disconnects, thats where the game is broken, being disconnected should not be the same as DNF,state my service record all you want it does not differ from disconnected or DNF,
My connection is fine 80 meg up and 12 down with no packet loss and the only game that don’t work properly is HALO 5
And yes i am getting banned for nothing.
