The "Official" and "Unofficial" Stories.

Say, the new trailer came out, and it was interesting, the narrator saying that the “official story” is that Master Chief is dead, but Locke is the “Unofficial story” it feels like a government cover up sat up by ONI, which begs the question, why would ONI do this?

Because people would believe the chief before they would believe ONI…and they fear that kind of power if they cannot control it

They wouldn’t want any bad publicity about their posterboy going rogue. It looks bad on them, plus if they are able to take Chief out, he’d have gone out as a hero, and not able to substantiate any claims against Oni

He is more useful as a martyr then as a rebel to them

This.

If even Mendez thinks chief’s gone rogue, then its better for people to think chief died fighting the guardian than to have the knowledge go out that he unleashed these thing.

Government agencies are not always trustworthy. They tend to cover up anything that goes against their agenda. Chief doesn’t align with that agenda. Therefore, they want to eliminate the influence of that threat.

ONI’s modus operandi, nothing is their fault.

I think this is stupid.
Why would they declare him dead when he is rogue and can appear ANYWHERE and ANY TIME?

All they did is made it worst on themselves.
