This is a topic I have yet to see discussed on the forms, so I thought I’d might as well start the conversation!
One of the great additions I believe has been added to Halo Wars 2 is giving players the ability to take more mini bases than we did previously in the original Halo Wars. Looking back on some of the maps in the original Halo Wars, I was always excited at the opportunity of getting a map with these mini bases; the opportunity of pumping out a bigger army faster got me going. In Halo Wars Two, the maps seem to have multiple numbers of these bases that each player can take safely and even contest for in the middle of the map. I love this addition, and I think it brings another element to Halo Wars that has the ability to draw out unique engagements for control of these mini bases.
What are y’alls thoughts?
I think the amount of bases mini or otherwise on the map were a tad bit excessive for how small the map was in such a quick gametype, but the northern one I really enjoy being a point of contention. Overall I do enjoy the minibases as they feel even more important and impactful than before now that you can train infantry directly out of the mini base itself.
I agree with the statement you said with the infantry being available to train at mini bases. I think It could open up new ways players can control multiple groups of units across the map, especially as I have seen on domination.
what halo wars 2 map has the most mini bases?
At first I thought you were gonna say “The Number of Minibases IS!”
Haha!
However, I must say the addition of minibases and 2 other particular things have propped this RTS up into a very fast paced game, and I like that.
It puts Halo Wars 2 in a position that is still an RTS but not quite an RTS like you would know, very creative.
Even if not though, cause I know someone’s going to call me out on it, I still like these as build-ups on Halo Wars 1.
Mini-bases Like you said create a new, albeit small, tier of production that exceeds the main base, and does indeed allow you to get an army out quicker, be it you make a Supply Pad to pump them out more frequently, or another unit station to double pump or make room for more supplies at your main base.
It’s risk and reward, and most definitely makes it a lot faster whichever way you look at it.
Grunts at Main Base:
Marines too! You don’t know how happy I am to see that you’re not defenseless if you have lost all your buildings.
You can build units right off the bat, support your larger army quicker without having to build a barracks, and have scout vehicles on Standby without having to build a Depot or Foundry. It’s great and it makes me happy they made it easier. This game really is a more simplified RTS, and while that’s probably a bad thing, I still like that they had this, it’s like a Beginner RTS, who knows, I might like one of Blizzard’s Famous Productions one of these days, haha!
Unit Logistics Upgrade!!!
Oh thank god for this one. I was actually kind’ve disappointed to remember not having a Unit Logistics Upgrade in Halo Wars 1.
A progressive “All Units” Upgrade that actually makes me happy, unlike the “All Vehicle/Air/Infantry Upgrades”. While there it lacks creativity away from just giving troops more health and damage, this upgrade is perfect for the base, and makes me happy because playing with Friends, or even online can have an effect on how fast you can pump out your army, vs how fast your enemy can pump out theirs.
Makes it a lot more fast paced, and really has saved me from suffering inefficiency.
Hate to be “That Guy” but this is an old post, like nearly 4 months, and on the rules is too not bring up old post… eh, who care anyway?
Please don’t revive old topics, thanks.
