Having small maps on reach for snipers forces one to becomea master of the art of no-scoping. How have you adapted to this?
No-scoping in Reach is far far easier than any other Halo game, so there’s not that much to adapt towards, to be honest.
Honestly try no-scoping someone in Halo CE or Halo 2 and it actually takes skill, there’s no aim-assist to hold your hand. Kids have never had it so easy.
You remind me of the days I spent in CE man, with snipers you had to use the scope on blood gulch. You spawn on red and go to the hill behind the base, the perfect sniping spot. I was in a game of btb snipers and I swear it was as if people didn’t even have to aim, they just shoot and get headshots. That game I went 5-8, after the last death, I crouched around the map trying to find people but mainly just to stay out of the way as it was a slaughter. I think the map was Trident. Some of these maps just seem like they are designed for camp/spawn killing.
It’s not difficult at all. Honestly, the aim assist is high as hell.
Having gone back and played some Halo 3 recently, Reach feels much easier and slower paced in comparison.
I’ve adapted to this by voting “None of the above” whenever some ridiculously cramped map pops up in the Snipers playlist.
Snipers on tiny maps is the worst idea ever. It’d be like having a variant of Big Team Battle where the only weapons are magnums.
I prefer sniping on larger open maps, but I do occasionally go for a few no-scopes on the smaller ones!

No scoping in Halo 2 is actually the easiest of the series, with CE and 3 being the hardest.
The rapid fire on the Sniper Rifle combined with the ridiculous bullet bending (seriously, even in LAN you can completely miss the person and still get a hit) in Halo 2 makes it stupid easy to get no-scopes in Halo 2 (or snipes in general). There is a reason that the term “Swipe Snipe” and “Spray Snipe” were coined for Halo during Halo 2.
