The Next Warzone

I am sure this has been tossed on here before but as I was looking at my warzone states I noticed that there is an option for Flagnum kills and Ball kills. This got me thinking, “What if Warzone integrated these into the Warzone fold?” I imagine it would work with integration in place of certain standard bosses.
Let’s say we are on Stormbreak and a flag/bomb spawns where Warden Eternal spawns. The flag would have to be recovered back to home base while a bomb would have to be planted either at the enemy bases shield doors or at the nearest enemy armory/garage. Perhaps the bomb could lower the shield for 30 seconds to 1 minute making the enemy team have to defend their base briefly. Recovering a flag could maybe give an overshield boost to the player and teammates who assisted the flag holder. Either one could net maybe 75 points .
Palmer (Bomb): “Looks like the Covenant unearthed some lost UNSC ordinance. Beat the other team to the bomb and plant it at their garage/armory/base.”
Palmer (Flag): “A Forerunner bannerman left his flag at the supply depot. Let’s show the enemy Spartan team who deserves the top spot. Return the flag to your garage/armory/base.”
This could help give Warzone a bit more variation than the typical, Boss spawn - zerg rush and allow for some variation to the playing field. Or perhaps it just needs to be its own playlist as Warzone Objectives.
Additional creative ideas welcome. Let’s hear some other variations of enhancing Warzone. And do not forget to add some Palmer adlibs!

Man, I thought somebody would have some thoughts on this…

So warzone with objective game modes? Hmm I don’t know how well it would work but you’ve piqued my interest.

I don’t know why nobody has commented on this? I think it’s a great idea. Although I would go with 2 flag CTF, especially on a map like March on Stormbreak that is very linear. Meaning once you get the flag from the middle, the enemy have no catching up on you.
The concept would work very well with assault though, rushing the bomb spawn and fighting through the enemy team to blow up their core would be so much fun!

Two flag would be interesting but where do you put the flag initially? Inside the base means the core is open which means your team is basically winning. I suppose they could go out front by the man cannons. Would make for a long trek back to home base. I again would integrate this into a normal game of Warzone so that bosses still spawn but in place of the one of the bosses is a flag/bomb round where it is active for X amount of time before they disappear.

Scout hogs, Mongeese & Ghosts would become invaluable for flag running. & How about having to plant the bomb on a boss? Like an assassination, but very high risk very high reward.

The idea of adding a few different objectives into one larger WarZone match would be a pretty cool idea… I like it a lot. I think they should also make better use of AI. There should be more than the AI at the beginning of the match and bosses. Maybe have deploy ships drop off AI, and a significant amount of them at different point during the match.

AI would work well for the single flag or single bomb defending the location of the spawn. Bring both teams in to fight the AI and each other and then hope you can get the bomb/flag moving to the appropriate base.

I don’t see a point of a CTF warzone or anything. It’d just be a BTB CTF on steroids. But idk. Maybe it’ll work.

It would be very easy to make an invasion version of warzone which would go well with your ideas. Cap an armory/garage, bomb the doors of the main base, then destroy or capture the core for final objective.

I would love to see, just for a weekend, a Warzone Griffball!

How is anything on steroids a bad thing?

This would be a pretty sick game mode if implemented. I mean, Warzone is essentially an upgraded BTB Strongholds with Bosses thrown in. This could very well work…

This whole idea could easily be folded into WZA. Instead of capturing two bases and coring, capture one, have the bomb spawn in the next (bomb only spawns when base 2 is captured) and then have the bomb blow up the core for the final. Extend the time a little bit because 6 minutes to get a certain guy with a bomb to a core would be too hard. Same thing with CTF but in reverse. Instead of a core there is a flag. Once both bases are captured, the flag is vulnerable. Then the attacking team has to return it to their spawn to complete the game.

Sounds great, honestly.
Planting a bomb could be a good way to clean up whole bases and capture them. Maybe the Bomb could be a REQ?

This is a good idea

I’ve always wondered why the flagnum and the ball were there, maybe 343 plans to do something with those in the future.

Warzone CTF

No A.I. invaders at the beginning, no bosses, and no shield doors the entire match. You need to be able get the Flag. There also needs to be a good way to move the Flag around without having to travel absurd distances.

Here’s how it works: Base captures will be reworked. Capping Home Base spawns the flag and capture plate in front of your core, but the outer structures (the two armories and middle base) are ‘flag rest’ points, meaning the team who controls them can place the enemy flag there when taken to ‘rest’ so it can’t be recovered/reset by the other team.

Every base capture allows you to move the enemy flag away from their Base, which will make capturing it easier. The other team now needs to capture said base to reset their flag, and stop you from having such an easy flag capture.

Of course, even if you control all the bases, you still have to successfully get inside the enemy core room and take the enemy flag, then get inside one of your bases without dying, so you can ‘rest’ it on the plate. Otherwise it gets reset to the enemy Home Base when dropped, and you have to get back inside again to take it.

At the beginning of the match when you exit the base and progress toward the other outer bases, there will be no A.I. invaders, but capping them will now spawn another capture plate, (Armory capture plates are always on the roof) along with some Marine allies inside. That’s what the flag ‘rest’ point looks like.

Recap

  • No A.I. bosses or invaders.
  • A.I. are only present as allies in bases.
  • Controlling bases turns them into ‘flag rest’ points.
  • Losing flag to rest point requires taking the base to reset.

*Debating on having a soft kill inside so you and 12 people can’t just camp Home Base forever and stop the flag from ever being taken.
*Debating on the core being destructible.
*Debating on just removing Home Base altogether, starting matches like Darkstar with a Pelican drop, and having all player/home flag plates spawn just outside.

Warzone Bomb Assault

No bosses and no Home Base shield doors.

Here’s how it works: A.I. Invaders and Lockdown period at the begging just like regular Warzone… Finish capping Home Base and your Bomb will spawn there. But base captures are changed from Warzone AND Warzone CTF… Eliminating A.I. invaders and capping bases will spawn fierce patrolling A.I. Spartan allies around it. They will be outside this time and they won’t be pushover Marines…

(Though you could always bypass them entirely and cap the building because they aren’t inside of it, then watch hilarious A.I. confrontations ensue outside.)

This is of course, much more chaotic. There are also no ‘rest points’ for the Bomb like in WCTF, so you have to do any Bomb runs in one go (this will obviously require a powerful Bomb holder.) The Bomb carrier gets a speed boost and double thrust. Not sure if he’s going to be Grif powerful just yet, but he will be considerably tough.

Of course, even if you control all the bases and have massive A.I. defenses patrolling around, you still have to successfully get inside the enemy core room and arm the Bomb. Otherwise it gets reset to your Home Base when dropped, and you have to go back there again to grab it.

Patrolling A.I. Spartan allies may sometimes pick up the Bomb to stop it from resetting.

Recap

  • Core is destructible.
  • No bosses.
  • A.I. are present.
  • Capping bases puts patrolling A.I. defenses near them, instead of inside them.

*Debating on how many Bomb explosions will destroy the core.
*Debating on how many patrolling A.I.
*Debating on Bomb carrier strength.

I would be down for a WarZone CTF/Assault, hell maybe even a WarZone KoTH.
