We’ve seen a vast array of different animation and art direction in the Halo franchise. From Legends to Nightfall to Blur’s cinematic. So I’m curious: what style would you prefer the bulk of future Halo media be in?
Live action like Nightfall and Forward Unto Dawn?
Animation like in Halo Legends?
Cinematic like what Blur did with Halo 2’s remastered cut-scenes?
Or a weird mix of what the Terminals are now done in?
Personally I’d love to see Blur do a full Halo movie. Especially if its set in the time of the Rise of Ancient Humanity and the beginning of the Human-Forerunner conflicts. Or one of the Forerunner civil wars.
A big budget, theatrical live-action TfoR adaptation, one that stays true to the characters, story and lore.
Then a full movie series for the rest of the main storyline.

I wish to But its not an option They can’t actually make a full movie whee the main character’s face wont be seen. Most fans dont want to see chiefs face, and never will.
Halo: TfoR has chief growing up and would not be possible to do while also obscuring his face. And if they did do the movie and show his face fans would never be happy with who the pick how he looks and acts.
IMHO Chiefs actor in FoD was perfect for the roll, Th voice im iffy on but still sounds good

If he was played by Gerard Butler I could live with it. That’s how he looks in my head canon anyway.

I think it would work if they did it right, he would have to be John-117 first, conscripted child soldier before getting his MJOLNIR, then once that helmet goes on he becomes Master Chief, covenant slaying badass, and we never see his face again. He was only 14 when he got it, not like he hasn’t changed from who we know him as in the games.

YESSSSSS!!! You have forever changed the way I see John-117. I had a vague image in my mind but when you said Gerard Butler it all clicked.

I think he would look more like Liam Neeson, with a little Bruce Willis in him.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and while I do like Gerard Butler, there’s just a bit too much crazy in him. Right now I’m thinking Tom Welling. He’s got a more cool and collected vibe while still seeming very powerful.
I’d prefer CGI by Blur so we don’t have to have the problems of live action. FUD was pretty good, Nightfall was really boring. Limited by budget and real world constraints (good luck getting an Elite to look good in live action). By contrast, the cinematics with the assualt on New Mombasa and Sgt. Stacker and his ODST’s on the beach showed that pure CGI is the way to go.
I would love a full Blur movie that was about a post war battle provided that it had good writers. But I mean as long as these stories are good it doesn’t really matter what the medium is. Forward Unto Dawn had okay writing and only really was bad in the visuals department with the battle and that could have been rectified by better special effects people. Nightfall could have been a lot better and suffered from overall lazy writing and actors that were all meh at best beyond Mike Colter and the guy that played Randall. If they would just get someone who can write a great story (or better yet just have the writers at 343i write it) then the stories would be great.
I mean, if Nightfall had been more interesting and had focus then the effects work could be forgiven completely because at least you’d be engrossed in the story.

Dude if Niel Blomkamp can make 7 foot giant cockroaches realistically interact with humans for an entire movie then I think they can make an elite look good in live action. They just don’t seem to want to fund anything outside of an indie style movie. That or they’re hiring really bad effects people.
I don’t really mind which style they use for Halo as long as it doesn’t look ridicules, but I wouldn’t mind seeing more animation as seen in Halo Legends especially from Prototype, The Babysitter. There’s just something about the art from those two animated shorts that really stands out for me, eh. Really makes me want to have more episodes for Halo Legends, eh.
To date, Halo live-action simply hasn’t worked for anything longer than a trailer. Maybe Spielberg will change my mind, but I’m not holding my breath. Blur, on the other hand, have consistently impressed; Wars still hasn’t been matched cutscene-wise. I’d have to go with them.
First off chief looks like Daniel Craig because he’s more white than butler and more beloved by the females.
Anywho I agree with OPs idea of ancient humanity done by blur.
Halo has had a tough luck with live action. The live-action trailers are great, however Forward Unto Dawn was pretty boring for the first episodes, and we all know Nightfall wasn’t to our expectations. Spielberg, please have the Halo TV series being back the “coolness” of live-action Halo.
However, I would live a live-action Halo made with the same style as The Hobbit. A mix of CGI and live-action.
