the next big thing

Lets see if we cant educate one or two a little

This is how mega games work, a genre goes quite for a while until the next big thing comes along, in this case it was H1 for single play and H2 for MP.

Then after they hit their peek, everyone’s expectations are set impossibly high. H3 onwards didn’t cause the same hysteria because everyone had moved on.

CoD MW was the shooter of choice, and, since that was the pinnacle, all others have been called inferior - ‘this gun didn’t do this in this version’, ‘this perk isn’t any good any more’ etc.

FPS have moved on, but because expectations are high, disappointment is inevitable. Would you prefer if devs just made the same game every year with the same maps/guns/game play and just improved the graphics and sound? I know I wouldn’t be happy with that.

Let the flame begin.

Of course games shouldn’t be exactly the same year after year, with only improved sounds and graphics. I like Halo 4, believe me, but to me it doesn’t feel like true Halo.
I wasn’t there when Halo 2 was big, I missed out on that sadly, but comparing that (or Halo 3, which I did play) to Halo 4, it’s almost a completely different game and that’s why some people don’t like it

Eh? People who don’t like Halo 4 are extremely nostalgic/biased. My nostalgia is on the good side, where the flow and fast-paced gameplay reminds me of Halo 2, which is a REALLY GOOD THING. Campaign was cheesy in one moment and it was repetitive but the how the cutscenes played out was awesome. Spartan Ops is super fun with friends and it makes me want to play next week sooner than ever.
