The new XP system is a stop gap, they even say it is to be replaced

Yeah it is bad yeah it rewards people who only play for half an hour over those who regularly play. But it is a stop gap and that is it.

The whole system is ment to be temporary while they get an actual one in place, and that is something stated on the news post in game. I get it is bad, even 343 knows it is bad they state as much but it is to give a boost until they can do something good.

Challenge-swaps wouldn’t exist if this system wasn’t the intended core progression path

If they decided last minute that this system was broken or only came to that conclusion recently, it still doesn’t excuse it’s implementation over a traditional performance-based system

what we currently have was created out of a purpose to monetize progression, not to make it engaging.

I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt but this is the first impression new players have and it’s not a preferable one for long-term retention.

As a temporary measure I applaud it. I think it’ll help a lot in the short term. I still hate many of the challenges though and I still want the system to be removed in favor of XP just for playing, winning, completing objectives, etc.

Which isn’t really part of what is currently going on, they are removing the system so put in a stop gap. That just isn’t relevent to the coversation at hand.

I fully agree there, but they tried an experment and it didn’t work. Not many games have tried this mode so yeah there wasn’t enough data to know it wouldn’t work, they learned.

Which I think is part of the point, they are trying to get the game to new players not just fans like us. But the Skill based system tends to favor fans, while a set XP system favors new people.

Not many games stick with set XP so yeah it was going to fail, and this brings us to.

Devs don’t make systems like this with out other reasons, the most common is a fat cat up top with a “gun” to the heads of the department saying “this makes moeny do this” even though everyone knows it only works in high churn games.

Marketing is most likely to blame.

Same and I think as I sated above, the devs would like that system as well, but some one has to have went nope try something new that earns money.

Yeah to be honest as far as temporary fixes go I’m happy to accept it for now, but I also don’t hold out hope that it will be fixed properly if the community is overtly positive to this current system. I can easily see them going “Well they are happy now, let’s leave it at that”.

Yeah that is a valid point, and something we should keep in mind. Just made this post because in the main post there are people cussing them out like it is the solution.

At least we are swapped to a better system until they make large scale changes

Yeah I get it. On both sides there are always radicals, abuse is not going to solve anything and neither is blind obedience, it is important that everyone recognises both sides have issues.

Of course they are going to replace it. Once they have their content team working on season pass content, and can churn then out every 50-60 days, then they will implement the system what they want to.

at the moment, they are so behind on everything, they have been forced to do what they hace done.

Terrible project management
