I heard that the Spartans in H4 will be Spartan IVs.
Right?
So can annyone explain me what Spartan Type were where and for how long? I wonder that Spartan III were in Reach (lol Bungie).
… well… here is what I think at the moment:
Spartan I: Was mostly a failure and the guys who were Spartan I were put into other Special Forces - so exactly there were no REAL Spartan I soldiers… at least noones who were called Spartan I.
Spartan II: The standard Spartan (like MC in Halo 1-3, with 2 different armors); the guys in Halo Wars and so on…
Spartan III: The DeltaForce-Similar Spartans from Halo Reach. Seems that there were not a lot of Spartan III soldiers. It seemed to be the “light” version of a spartan…
Spartan IV: The new Spartans in Halo 4 on the Infinity. So MC is a Spartan IV, too? How is that possible? Cortana upgraded him? And the Spartans on Infinity were coincidentally upgraded the smae way? Or Is MC stil a Spartan II? Or the Spartans on Infinity?
How comes there are more Spartans - nearly all died or not… (eh I mean get lost in action).
So Spartan IVs are NOT upgraded Spartan IIs; exept MC?
Please help me out and correct me if iam wrong somewhere. I don’t read the books and so on; I only play Halo. And I think I have nearly lost my bird’s-eye view.
> MC is still a Spartan II. I’m not sure why they changed his Mark VI armor so much.
Artistic liscence and design, it’s the same armor, just jazzed up for the latest game.
@OP
The S-IV program takes the best of the best in the UNSC military and used then as adult volunteers in the program, similar to the ORION(spartan I) program.
Some spartan II’s and three’s have been invited into the program, most likely in a leadership or training role similar to Kurt’s role in the S-III program.
k spartan 2s were kidnapped as children and trained for war. Master cheif and George from reach were spartan 2s.
Spartan 3s were volunteers and were not trained as harshly as the S2s. basicly spartan 3s were used as cannon fodder for suicide missions. there were many more S3s than S2s. almost all S2s were killed on reach except a few such as chief, and linda. (cheifs squad mate from the books).
Spatan 4s are volunteers that are the best of the best. They are odsts marines pilots and so on. Spartan 3s were anyone who didnt feel like they belonged. Homeless kids, any military unit and so on.
sp in halo 4 u r playing as a new recruit that is starting his/her career. u follow him/her through traing(war games) and missions(spartan ops). and watch him evvolve into the spartan 4 version of cheif. though cheif is still the best.
Just a small thing, but I’m pretty sure spartan III’s were also children but they were orphans and they agreed to it. But the rest is right. Less augmented suicide troops.
Spartan-IV project seems to be the end-product of the Spartan/ORION series. Whereas the first attempt was a failure and the S-IIs went through extremely dangerous augmentations and the S-IIIs had to be very young to take their much safer augmentations the S-IVs is the best of everything; adults can enrol, safe augmentations, mass-produced and perfected Mjolnir armor.
The S-IIs and S-IIIs do have one major advantage over the S-IVs though; extreme experience, dedication and training (though this could be construed as brainwashing). The S-IVs could potentially be adults and with that comes a childhood without training, personal problems and neurosis and less experience as a full-time dedicated soldier with no distracting personal life.
Spartan 1 - Also known a Project Orion. Like you said, mostly a failure. Sgt Johnson was part of this.
Spartan 2 - The best soldiers humanity has to offer - There were originally 150 candidates (who were captured as children) altough many of these boys and girls were killed during their mechanical and biological augmentations. These spartans were Mjolnir armor, and only a few are known to still be alive (John, Fred, Kelly, Linda, Naoimi)
Spartan 3 - Another spartan progamme started during the covenant war. The candidates were once again made up of children, this time volunteers who were more likely to join the progamme (eg. parents killed by the Covenant).
These were cheaper and more expendable versions of the Spartan 2’s. There were more than 1500 candidates at the start of the progamme, and less died during the safer augmentations, altough at this current time, only a few remain. Spartan 3’s were SPI armor.
Soartan 4 - Progamme established after the Covenant war. Altough little is known, it consists of members of the UNSC who either volunteered or were hand picked by ONI to be augmented to wear Mjolnir, so these spartans are adults. They train aboard the UNSC Infinity.
See…I thought the surviving SPARTAN-II’s and III’s were also integrated into the SPARTAN-IV program along with volunteers from different branches of the UNSC…So technically wouldn’t John also be a SPARTAN-IV during/after the events of the new trilogy?
Spartan I: Part of Project ORION, regular soldiers who are biochemically and biomechanically enhanced. Sergeant Avery Johnson is one example of a Spartan I.
Spartan II: Part of Catherine Halsey’s projects along with MJOLNIR. Genetically perfect individuals stolen when they were children, augmented with training, enhanced biomechanics, bone grafts, and perceptions and inserted into armor that cost as much money as a UNSC destroyer to build. Each Spartan has at least
Spartan III: Part of Colonel Anderson’s project to create disposable supersoldiers that could finish missions that frontline troops (even ODSTs) were unable to complete. The same basic protocol used on S-III’s as on the S-II’s but without the genetic makeup that made the S-II’s the proper candidates. S-III’s were taken from the survivors of glassed worlds, usually children without parents, so that way they would not be missed. The augmentation procedures were never as successful as in the S-IIs.
Spartan IV: Advances in technology since the inception of the S-II program have allowed for a greater understanding of how to tailor the biochemical changes and augmentations to make them nearly 100% successful in regular adult candidates. Therefore psychological profiling to identify candidates in the regular frontline troops that have the proper mindset is the primary factor in S-IV training. The cost of creating MJOLNIR armor has also come down as ONI has increased it’s ability to understand both Covenant and Forerunner tech, upon which MJOLNIR, especially the rechargeable shield system is based.
