The new Spartan abilities need to go.

Watch this vid from 0:24 to 1:24.
It’s almost exactly what we just saw in those new abilities.
Im sorry but with these in this game its just going to turn H5 into a mod of another game.

You guys have to add something else. You guys have to add your own flavor.
And if this is the way you are going no matter what… at least make them look different.
Spartans are super human… take out thrusters for everything but the air stuff. Spartans should be able to move around super quick without the need of thrusters. Of all the stuff that has been created for this world, you should have enough material to come up with some unique gameplay.

How about creating a new mechanic based around hardlight technology?
There’s so much stuff you create new mechanics around.

Anyone care to come up with some? Let’s throw some ideas around!

But I think those features look good and I want to experience them first before deciding what should go or stay.

Can always count on you to be reasonable. I like the look of them, they add something different to have to contend with. There are concerns over balance but can’t wait to try them out

Save for the beta.

They can stay but they shouldnt be the main gamemode as it will annoy a lot of people and take away from the classic arena gameplay. They need to stay however to keep custom games rich.

Honesty i love the new stuff, they should just offer classic playlists from the start to keep whiners happy.

Advanced warfare did that from the start its cool switching from classic and new gameplay

Super-human or not, they’re heavy as hell in that big, bulky armor. The fact they can run at all in those suits is super-human; you or I wouldn’t be able to move other than falling over like a domino. I can certainly see giving them thrusters for added mobility.

New stuff based around hardlight technology would be good; the hardlight shield was pretty useless, but I’m sure there are other applications that would be more interesting and unique.

Well, you can rent COD AW and experience them now.
You are going to end up dying faster but it should be good experience for this game.

From what I see, it’s just like armor abilities but much more balanced, and most of them are so insignificant that they’re not really game changing but are still helpful. But I wouldn’t be quick to judge them until playing it myself.

I think this is the key. It seemed very clear that Halo 4’s lack of longevity relative to say H2 and H3 was as a result of a move away from classic arena gameplay and into the world of gimmicks.

When people said they wanted loadouts removed this was not only because there was a chance that gameplay would be imbalanced where a player could only pick one armor ability, it was because it detracted from what was Halo’s core attraction - classic arena gameplay.

From what I can see, the video you provided shows double jumping (not in Halo 5), and people aiming down their sights at an enemy right in front of them, which isn’t how you’ll be playing Halo 5.
So how exactly is it exactly like Halo 5?

It’s the title of the thread, the discussion are the new Spartan Abilities and their similarities to what’s on the video.
If you dont know what Spartan Abilities are you should search around to find a vid. That should be online already.

Considering 343 have been making the multiplayer at the same time as sledgehammer made theirs, you can’t say anyone copied anyone.

Being an arena shooter has nothing to do with having abilities or not.

You call it classic, I call it stagnation. Seriously, a game being an arena game has little to do with the movement, if anything more movement options is a large part of arena gameplay and has been since Quake for god sake. It’s not a gimmick to give the player the ability to move more freely, the reason it wasn’t done in previous shooter is because it was simply impossible with the tech at the time.

Please stop talking as if you’re defending arena gameplay, you’re not. All an arena game really is, is equal starts with equal abilities and a map with weapons, powerups and vehicals on it - often with some sort of health/shield system. Right now Halo 5 looks to be ticking all of those boxes so please get some valid criticisms or go a play quake live.

To be fair, although the strafing with thrusters thing is in COD, I think we give them too much credit.
You could do something somewhat similar with Halo 4’s thrusters, it was just in 3rd person.
Even so, what should continue to set Halo apart from COD is the balanced, skill-based, arena gameplay. Similar movement features doesn’t equate the experiences of both games.

be open minded, wait for the beta and give your constructive criticism. the halo championship series is going to be amazing. lets support halo so it becomes as big as riot and LoL. come on now, we all want to see halo grow

I think it will add new fun elements of halo to explore and pay around with. The more skilled players will grow into them and use them in their niche. Halo needs growth and I like how 343 made halo grow from the arena style that halo has always been. Everyone is equal starts. Descope is back. They are trying to balance spartan abilities. Armour abilities and ordnance are gonzo. Halo 5 looks promising but I can’tt wait for the campaign ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! !!!

My analysis from what little I have seen:
Smart-scope is a reskin of the traditional Halo zoom and do not impose the necessities and penalites of traditional ADS as COD does. Only things that raise my eyebrows is the lack of retention of the pistol’s traditional ‘closed-scope’ and the idea of the AR getting a scope. Besides, (please correct me if I am mistaken) but you do not have to hold down LT to continuously engage the scope like in traditional COD-esque ADS. So ADS is not really a thing so to speak?

Halo’s “duelling” centric style of combat has not been broken from what I can see, in that when one initiates a firefight, you still have a chance to retreat or fight back with your given resources unlike in COD, where the winner is who gets the first bullet out of the rifle. Spartan abilities will seem to emphasise on this “duelling” aspect more, since I remember people talking about The Package in Halo Legends and be like “why can’t we do that in the games”. Well people, wish granted (I guess, from the time being).

So u mad because they are “copying” Advanced Warfare? What ideas do you suggest that Halo 5 should add?
