I personally think that it sounds incredible, it still has that elegant orchestral quality that Halo has always had, but with a new sound. The soundtrack revealed so far has delivered some epic music that is totally different from any other Halo game, but still has that Halo feel. I love it, I give props to Neil Davidge.
But remember Neil, don’t forget to put the original theme in there somewhere, the new music is awesome but the original theme (or at least some variation of it) must be in any Halo game featuring Master Chief.
And who wrote that song? Oh yeah Marty the true man behind Halo music. If 343 wants to do its own thing then loose the original Halo theme. Oh and how can they call it Halo when all the rings were destroyed?

A ring and the Ark was destroyed, there are still six others, maybe more. Also composers will copy off other music all the time, but add their own twist to it, it’s very common practice in the music world. Marty even did it to his own music with the MJOLNIR Mix and the Halo 3 theme, both of which were based off the Halo 1 theme.

but the fact that there are 6 more rings left is a good point
leaves a HUGE open spot for the trilogy to go on…
I’d like some of the older themes and motifs to return in Halo 4 for the sake of continuity and nostalgia.

Not a Halo music nerd, just a music nerd, I am in a Concert Band and Marching Band, I play the trumpet also. I have never composed music myself but I’ve seen it enough to know how the general process works.
