The new ranking system is as follows...

Start: SR 1-50 (SR = Spartan Rank)

Wetwork 1-10 ~ specialization

Operator 1-10 ~ specialization

Then gradually made available are the other 6 specializations, resulting in 8 specializations.

This equals 130 levels total.

Each specialization will take the same amount of time your initial SR ranks 40-50 take. Which I imagine will take a decent amount of time.

There WILL be a number next to your name. Ex. GAMERTAG SR-85

There is daily, weekly, and monthly challenges.

There is commendations.

With each rank you of course unlock new items, the major difference in this rank system (also dubbed a progression system) compared to a purely skill based rank system is that everyone always advances, but at different rates.

The better you are, the more you win, and the more challenges you complete all make you rank up faster. The worse you are, the more you lose, quit and don’t complete challenges, the rate at which you rank up will be extremely slow. Albeit gradually advancing just because you are participating in the game. This rewards everyone, however it rewards those who work harder and play better, with more experience, resulting in that player unlocking everything faster and building their reputation and spartan with more customizable details.

These specializations are a different form of leveling up, because each are unique in what they require you to do to rank up.

This system you may think to be similar to Halo Reach’s, but it is not.

I suppose it is the same thing, but I guarantee there will be something different 343 throws at us that gives us that skill based mantra we desire.

Really wanted a true skill ranking system in there…

So, now ranks mean NOTHING. AND you don’t even have cool emblems for the ranks.

I posted this in a thread not too long ago, but although we know how the specializations are going to work, has there been any notification given further guidance on the ranking system? I know that Frank recently indicated that more information will be released in the upcoming weeks. o_O

This isn’t the ranking system as 343 said there would be two a progression and a different ranking system this looks like the progression one. So i would say there is still another one out there.

I see… Well, I guess we will all be very attentive whenever 343i makes the official announcement, which someone joked would be hours before the release to avoid potential backlash. :=)

I’m still confused about the ranking system lol.

So what? I presume you can look at each others stats. Stats tell more about a player than a number derived from those stats.

Did they confirm they aren’t having “ranked” playlists? If not, I’m guessing we’ll still get the 1-50 rank playlists sprinkled in there.

The ranks are there, just hidden. It’s to stop people boosting into different skill rankings. It’s a good thing… in H3 if you ever played it, most the generals were -Yoink- as they just boosted, and it effected MM
