The new marine design

I’m so glad we’re reverting back to the older art style, those marines looked similar to the reach marines when you see them from the front. Such a great improvement over the halo 4-5 marines.

It would be really cool to play them as well.

I hope they are much stronger then the Halo 4 marines as well.

I actually thought they looked less sci-fi than the Bungie era marines. Certainly not the Killzone marines with browned pants from Halo 4. I mean they don’t look that far from what we have today. They do have plate but it seems to be less covering and they have a more realistic camo pattern on the fatigues.

Its a good look.

We’ll have to wait and see if they change other things like the Elites, Grunts and the Prometheans.

Yeah so far they look great but can’t tell what weapon they’re holding. It looks like a battle rifle but can’t tell which design the classic or the newer one but I hope it’s the classic.

They look closer to the marines in Reach to me.

I am only on a small screen but the “bar” did look like the Halo 4/5 one. I dunno, maybe I saw it wrong, I couldn’t really make out too much of the marines from the front.

Yeah they look a lot like the Reach marines. I prefer the armored look of Halo 2A, so I hope these marines aren’t final, but if they are final, I won’t throw a fit over it. They look alright.

I love them! I wouldn’t be against the halo 2A marines either though, I REALLLY hope we get those funny sarcastic marines back.

I need Chips Dubbo back in my life.

The Marines in Halo 4 didn’t look far from what we have today. I never understood why people didn’t like them, especially since their armor and design made sense

Only the helmet and front vest looks like the Reach Army Trooper gear, the rest looks like Halo Wars 2 Concept art with a proper camo pattern, with giant armored boots and a soft plate carrier visible from the back.

I’d prefer halo 2/wars 2 marines over the bland Army designs from reach. Halo 3 marine designs as well as those stand above as leagues better than the bland -Yoink- reach troopers and, 4 and 5 marines. shame they didn’t just use the fantastic Halo 2/wars 2 stuff. or use something easily recognizable like halo 3 marines.

Infinite marines look like a hybrid Reach and Halo 2 design. The armor has that brown hue to it. But the under shirts and pants look like H2A marines. Might be a mix of the 2.

The armor is a lot less pronounced and rounded. So it looked slightly silly rather than badass.

Plus the fatigues had bizarre colours like the brown on the inside or even purples and other random colours. Note that in the novels they actually insult the Covenant for not wearing camo…

You also have a clear tech downgrade with them wearing mundane flak vests despite being told the UNSC has better tech. So as a piece of visual story telling they don’t work.

I mean I actually disagree on a lot of the iconic art style stuff; especially with the Forerunners because I wouldn’t have said sentinels were ever iconic and Reqium impressed me. But the marines I could never say I liked them.

Eh I actually thought this was a futuristic Call of Duty game until I heard the music in the back ground and saw the front of the Marines armor.

Good, they don’t look so ridiculous anymore.

The look like a combo or Reach Marines and Halo 4 marines
a closer look.

They’re wearing plate carriers, not flak vests. I know it’s nitpicking, bit there’s still a difference.

And it’s not far fetched to think the UNSC just created advanced plate armor, much like how the US military is developing some insane plate armor right now.

The rounded armor note is an odd thing to point out considering armor probably won’t be pointy

I agree with you on the camo note. I think if they should make the Marines with some sort of universal camo.

I agree, I love their look. H4/5 marines were embarrassing.

My only concern with the marines is how smooth and low-textured they are. Looked a lot like Breath of the Wild/Fortnite art style that so many companies are using nowadays for, I can only guess, higher framerate and to draw in younger audiences with a more cartoonish art style. Halo has always looked gritty and mostly realistic. I really hope that what we saw in the Slipspace engine thus far isn’t set in stone and may be changed to look a little more like the original trilogy’s classic art style.
