The New Map "Pitfall" isnt what you think.

Everybody loves the pit, I get that.

However, some people are forgetting that even though the map is amazing, the structure of the game will BUTCHER the gameplay.

Gamers are sprinting, jetpacking, and not to mention most of the guns in the game are “hitscan” unlike Halo 3’s bullet travel. Prepare to get spawn trapped and shot from across the map by a DMR or BR.

Your thoughts?

It won’t fix everything you mentioned, but the map has been expanded to accommodate sprint and other AA’s

We already had a thread that discussed this.

IMO, AA’s, perks, and long range rifles broke Halo, not its maps.

@rangerdanger, do you even know what a troll is? because every post ive seen you make is un constructive and rude so shut the hell up already, and also like a guy said to you earlier, you dont deserve that medal umder your name. OT your right tho OP, but guys who want it, think of this, remember pit being a medium size map im h3 well lets see they made it bigger to accomodate h4 well guess what long hall is more than likely double than what it was not, have fun trying to get to rockets in a timely manner. snipers nests will be farther away yet giving snipers an even bigger advantage given that flinch is better. people liked the pit because it was a small to medium man, now in h4 it will be a medium to large map because of the dcale upgrade. think about it solace, is roughly the smaller in size as the pit in 3 albiet it has 2 tiers, now with the size upgrade itll be huge. people just arent seeing that its gonna be a larger map, therefore larger sightlines and long distance fights.

After reading some of the reply’s it looks to me we need to report and move on.

OP. I think you should at least play it before setting up a negative thread about it.

Whinging, dull and non constructive is what I call your post - I don’t think anyone is expecting it to play like the original pit since we are now playing it on Halo4.
Personally, I am looking forward to it and it will be interesting to see what new possibilities H4 brings to the party.

All I see when I look at the OP is a legitimate concern expressed by someone who doesn’t think that Halo 3 and Halo 4 gameplay are compatible. They’re not saying “OMG IT WON’T BE THE SAME.” They’re expressing concerns that a map built for one game won’t play well in another.

Is that concern justified? I suppose we’ll find out when the map is released. But it doesn’t seem like a ridiculous thing to worry about.

Pitfall is based on the MLG version of the Pit.
MLG used Forge and custom game options to remove equipment, make movement speed and weapon damage 110% and force BR only starts with custom weapons and objects on the maps.

… Except for Sprint, you can do the same with H4’s Forge and CGO’s to recreate your experience from H3 or near exactly like MLG: H3.

Other than that, the rooms above the bases have been removed to prevent Jetpackers from having an easy elevated cave, a lift was put under Sword-room (well under the hallway) and the stage is already modified to allow for MUCH better flow of movement without having to take so many damn ramps to get a spot by using a few well placed crates and integrated ledges.

I dislike the Pit and Pitstop, I do like MLG’s version of the Pit.

Way to see the negative in things… You haven’t even played the Halo 4 version of Pitfall, and your already doubting it.

i figured the same thing. the game has fundamentally changed since that map was released.

i may be wrong but i would believe its not going to be as loved as anyone hopes.

I would seriously hope that we could have a normal Halo style playlist and play the Pit.

Well… That’s a deal breaker for me…

At least I have the Steam Punk weapon skins and the ODST armor to look forward to.

Not gonna lie, I played the Pit forge remakes in Reach and Halo 4 and it worked pretty much fine.

Another point:

There are countless remakes of the Pit made by Forgers. If anything, The Pit is one of the easiest maps to remake in Forge. With that being said, we are now paying for a Map that has been easily remade by ourselves.

I would have much rather had 343i remake a map that couldn’t be successfully remade in Forge, like Last Resort or Sandtrap.

You can’t be spawn trapped if you yourself have a DMR and are able to shoot back at the enemy. The only time DMR’s are capable of spawn trapping is if people purposefully spawn themselves with a meager AR or BR (or if the map is -Yoink- and gives both spawns direct views of each other, a la blood gulch).

Anyways, I don’t disagree the map will play differently. But I don’t think it will be utterly ruined by sprint and the DMR alone.
