With 343 reclassifying the mag as a support weapon and making it a six shot kill, they might as well get rid of the magnum all together. It will become a useless weapon in every situation in the game and will be dropped as soon as possible. It needs to be a five shot kill to be competitive, no question. In Reach, the magnum was a dangerous weapon in the rights hands, in Halo 4, the magnum will be a pea shooter and no one will take it seriously as a threat. this is just my opinion though, what does the community think?
I think it’s fine. If you get into a gun duel and just so happen to exhaust your magazine before killing your opponent, you still have a small chance to survive by switching to your pistol and pulling a headshot. It’s perfect as a support weapon.
343i is trying to reclass the Magnum as a side-arm, something you resort to when your primary is out of ammo. If you take that into perspective, than the magnum should be the first thing you drop . . . You shouldn’t be dropping your rifle when a better weapon pops up.
It’s not supposed to be a serious threat anymore, that’s what the rifles are for.
And what i Bowser o said.
I would totally agree with this as long as the BR is a 4 shot kill. The 5 shot magnum would also make up for it having bloom.
They need to make it 5 shot kill at close range and 6 shot kill at medium range. I loved using the Magnum in Halo Reach because it wasn’t as weak as a plasma pistol.

I would agree with that, but the recoil should increase as well, to make The BR harder to use, but maybe a little more rewarding when you make a kill.
How big is the mag for the pistol?
> How big is the mag for the pistol?
8 rounds with six total clips.
The magnum is a sidearm. This isn’t Halo: CE.
A 6 shot kill should be fine then. Reach’s pistol almost took a whole clip to kill. So 343i didn’t really change anything with the pistol.

The good old days.
Agreed the Pistol was fine in reach. You either have:
5sk pistol with bloom
6sk Pistol with no bloom
OR
5sk pistol with low fire rate.
Why are we having a 6sk pistol with bloom… bungie brought back the magnum 343i take it away… it’s not like we are asking for a 3sk or somthing.

The Reach Mag kills in five shots, not six.
so having a side arm that just as powerful as a main weapons is a good idea. thats like saying make the warthog as powerful as the scorpian.
I would agree under normal circumstances. In Reach it needed to be a 5sk for when you played normal slayer so players wouldn’t be roflstomped by DMR users. Now we have a loadout system where you get to start with utility weapons of your choice, speaking of there are more in Halo 4 than other games. Because of this the magnum has no buisness being on par with the utility weapons, its fine as a 6sk and will do the job. Also I found your “competitive” comment to be silly, I have no clue what you meant by that. Also what happened to people concerns of weapons being reskins of each other?, because thats what a 5sk magnum is. LET THE SIDE ARMS BE SIDE ARMS! THEY ARE CALLED SIDE ARMS FOR A REASON!
