. . . I don’t dig it. Master Chief from Halo 2 and 3 looks so much nicer. Adding armor padding and all that crap doesn’t make him look “stronger” (what 343 wants him to feel more of). In fact it just makes him look more generic and lame.
Also, hopefully 343 won’t be so focused on the “strongman” animations of the game. What I mean is it wouldn’t be good to have a lot of focus on making the chief “feel like a genetically enhanced super soldier”. I don’t wanna see crap like you see in the 50000 other fps games where you “press X to rip open this locked door” -Yoink-. Sorry no offense but that’s super lame. Keep that macho -Yoink- in the cut-scenes and it will all be good.

He definitely looks better in Halo 2/3…come on folks.
I disagree. The armor looks more functional. And detailed. You basically just want simplistic metal man. Not a fully functional superhuman.

How is the original generic? That’s a literal oxymoron lol. Making the spartan look like some beefed up (gears of war style), multi-layer armored vanquisher of evil is generic. The original model had finesse, style, and it was clean.
I don’t mind the new Master Chief, I really wanna see 343’s explanation how he could of changed his armor that much while in space. I like the old Master Chief more because it’s simple, but the new armor look’s extremely detailed. I just hope they don’t change him anymore.

When I referenced his appearance as similar to Gears, I only meant that he look sneedlessly bigger than the original (since practically all Gears characters are huge). Don’t know why people are so attracted to good guys looking “so strong”.

I dislike the shape of the helmet/shoulders/thruster packs.
I’m fine with the rest of it I guess.

Yeah that’s it exactly. And in my opinion, the shoulders and thruster pack really kill it. They make him look over sized. Stomach down is nice, though.

I actually agree with all of that. Why change that classic helmet? The new Master Chief helmet looks like his face got sucked into a big dumb head.
I think it’s the best he’s ever looked. I even think he actually looks a little slimmer. His arms might be a tad bigger, but his torso is skinnier and more agile looking to me.

I don’t really care if it “looks” more functional. If it takes away from the looks, then it’s not good. These add-ons just aren’t necessary. Chief is already badass. And besides, does a piece of armor sticking off of a piece of armor (i.e the shoulder pads) really make him look functional?
And by the way, are you saying Ironman doesn’t look badass?
I can easily say I don’t like the current helmet compared to the other “Classics”.
That aside, the old armors were “Generic” in the Doom marine sense. Also, I find it extremely hard to find quality games where the protagonist is heavily armored. You refer to gears of war’s characters as armored whereas they are only large in the body structure/muscle mass.
I mean they’re not turning MC into a beefcake, he can still bend his knees, turn his head and jump.
I understand your opinion and definitely respect it but I have to respectfully disagree I think his new armor is a lot more unique looking In my opinion his old armor did not look very unique he pretty much kinda looked like your typical cyborg or hunk of armor. however I am not bashing his old looks I love the way he used to look however I like his new look a lot more 
At first I didn’t like the new armour either but when I seen it in game my opinion completely changed, it looks awesome, it has a much more serious/super soldier/space marine feel to it.
I wouldn’t mind a few parts that tell you to rip a metal door off, but a big door, not a stupid locker.
I just hope its actually the Mk. VII and not a re-imagined Mk. VI. Don’t ruin Halo2, 3, Halo Legends and all the other Halo media that featured the Mk. VI we know and love.

It doesn’t take away from the look The side by side are very similar, Just like a halo CE- halo 2 side by side different but similar. what add ons? Yes he is. There where many different armor permutation, in halo 3 and reach were very similar looking. There not overly large and the look as though the add to the protection of the shoulderIMO.

Ironman is badass But i fail to see your point ironman more resembles halo 4 chief/spartans then halo 3 chief IMO
