The New Game Mode Selector Isn't As Great As It Seems

With the release of the BRAND NEW & INNOVATIVE game mode selector for Halo Infinite there’s been a lot of talk about how fun the game is and how easy it will be to complete challenges. Unfortunately the truth is 343i only fixed a portion of the problem by creating a new one. It was wise of 343i to implement the super complicated game mode selector for Quick Play and BTB… until you realize that your challenges are to kill 10 spartans in Ranked Slayer, complete a Ranked Oddball match, complete 3 Quick Play matches, and complete a Ranked Strongeholds match. Now, when you drop a Double XP to hopefully earn a ton of XP, your dreams are quickly crushed by the ranked challenges, why? Because 343i conveniently left out a game selector for Ranked Arena. It’s so oxymoronic to add a game mode selector for Quick Play (which doesn’t effect your rank) but then not add a game mode for Ranked Arena, thus forcing you to slow down on your progress to unlock half of the Reach armor that was given to us for free in MCC, no battlepass required. Nobody wants to play Ranked Oddball for three games in a row believe it or not, 343i. This, along with challenges based around Ranked Arena, significantly effects the value of adding a game mode selector. Sure, we’re moving in the right direction, but what sense does this make?? I’d argue that it’s more difficult to progress now than it was before Dec. 14th.
