AMAZING… Dat lighting! i cannot wait to see what my fellow halo fans will create, some real pieces of art! I think the multiple forge environment and added lighting with realistic buildings will make mutiplayer forge maps actually playable, and fun!
your thoughts?!
Nothing that special. There is still so much potential missed by 343. I’m not disappointed but it’s not the ‘massive leap’ I was hoping for.
I’ve never had issues with reach forge maps other than those glowing rocks in the shadows…
Halo 4 forge is going to be amazing! Just the lighting makes it better for me at least.
Once again its all just grey/white/black…
I don’t really like it at all to be quite honest. Everything looks terrible because of the lack of variety of colors on the forge objects. Just white, it looks terrible and the contrast hurts my eyes. Almost to the point where I didn’t even feel like watching the rest of the video. The only thing that caught my eye that I actually liked was the windows. I like the lighting to. But yeah, the colors are going dramatically reduce my forge experience. Hopefully it will be fixed and there will actually be a variety of colors, that would be nice.

What else do you want? Bright yellow and pink pieces so we can make a rainbow map?
I’ve been actually thinking, “You know what they need as a Forge environment? One that takes place in the middle of space with plenty of room to build all around”.
So I was like “CALLED IT!” when I saw the news

No what we want is variety.
I’d like a map with bronze-ish Forerunner structure pieces, like those on The Ark. It would be a really good break from the UNSC-based objects on the other maps.

Bit over dramatic, the environment, tools, and lighting look fantastic. He did mention multiple times that he was using the “unsc pallet” so there will most likely be more than one pallet (possibly covenant and forerunner) with different colored pieces. I think it’s a bit unfair to say “everything” looks terrible because you have sensitive eyes.

What we need is the option to give any standard piece a texture/skin like a brick wall or limestone. This (in my opinion) was the next logical step for forge not dynamic lighting.
I think it looks great Im not dissapointed at all. The pieces look way better then Reach, that map looks great, caint wait to get my hands on it.

I think it’s unfair that he calls a 10-minute showcase of a few elements in Forge “everything”. It’s 10 minutes. There are different maps to play with. You think Certain Affinity spent 2 years designing Forge and remodelling it just to show you EVERYTHING in a small video?
Please.

We have 3 different Forge environments, and we don’t even know how much of an effect the light orbs have. For all we know, the pieces are white so they can reflect light better.

I really hope that’s the case, or that we’re seeing an older build of Impact. I love the concept of the map, but the lighting on Ravine plays off the objects much better than it does in Impact.
Not impressed. 3 years to make forge something great and all they do is white, magnets and custom trait zones.
343, did you at least check Far Cry 2s editor? Dont come with framerate drop BS, FC2 editor explains framerate drop zones.

If I want a red wall, I want a red wall - not a white wall, with red light shone on it. Forge environments and variety with multi-purpose pieces, are very different things.

^ Just wow. ¬_¬
I don’t really see how anyone one can be disappointed. You want variety? You’ve got three different forge spaces all with different pallets. And that map called Relay that they showed only came as repetitive because it didn’t use any of the surrounding physical environments (the asteroids).
In an effort to eliminate the repetitiveness in forge maps, they made 3 forge spaces with different themes. That’s more than I asked for. I think that they have accomplished a lot aesthetically, especially with the dynamic lighting, which brings so much more life to the environment.

It seems we have both. Try again.
