The new Firefight isn’t really firefight at all, it has nothing to do with the survival aspect of previous games. Now it’s all about completing objectives, like spartan ops was. They should rename Warzone “Firefight” to Warzone Ops or something, and bring back real firefight.
While I agree, Warzone Firefight isn’t quite the same as previous Firefights, I don’t think it’s Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops had a story and a reason to push through. WZFF really doesn’t.
I think what you need to do is realize that this isn’t Firefight, it’s Warzone Firefight. It’s a bit of a cop-out, and I would be the first to call foul on this argument, but it really is a different Firefight. Previous Firefights never really worked all that well in a matchmaking environment for me. Hell, the firefight matchmaking in Halo Reach felt like a worse version of what we have with WZFF. A few waves of Covenant that don’t get much tougher than a pair of hunters and you very rarely died.
I would like to see a more traditional Firefight that is more about the survival aspect that you play with your friends sans-matchmaking.
No, I’m gonna go ahead and say that it definitely isn’t Spartan Ops. And it isn’t firefight. It’s Warzone Firefight. It’s its own thing and it isn’t under any obligation to be anything else. You prefer ODST, I prefer Reach, I found quite a lot of replayability in Spartan Ops too. What I don’t find in WZFF is anything other than frustration and grind, but other people seem to like it so who am I to judge?
Unless Spartan Miller is telling us we’re under attack by Promethean Knights it is not Spartan Ops.
Then again, Palmer is, so…
Spartan Ops had story elements though. It’s kind of its own AI mode.
WZFF isn’t that much like Spartan Ops. Spartan Ops at least told a narrative. WZFF is mostly Warzone.

Actually I like reach better than ODST but that’s not really important
Palmer has yet to call someone an egg head as far as I’m concerned, so it most certainly isn’t Spartan Ops.
