The new explosive weapon from the Halo 4 trailer: How should it work?

By now all of us have surely seen the Halo 4 trailer and the new explosive dart type weapon that was featured in it. Now my only question is how should it work? Its fairly small, but doesn’t seem like a good fit for dualwielding. Should it stick to targets like a sticky grenade? Or just explode on impact? Should you be able to control the detonation like the grenade launcher? Or should there be a predetermined time before it blows up?

My thoughts:

I do not think it should be a dualwieldable weapon. I’m banking on it being a one hit kill and would seem redundant to have a second weapon when using it. It needs to be reloaded after every shot like the grenade launcer. Unlike the grenade launcher the explosive does not bounce instead it sticks to the surface it initially hits including other players.

From what i have seen in the the trailer, I believe it will have remote detonation like the grenade launcher. If you watch closely, after the weapon is fired the gun seems to flip open. When the Chief flips it back the charge explodes. I have a feeling that action is what caused the detonation, which means players will be able to time there shots. Here is how it should work.

If a player shoots the weapon by just tapping the trigger, it will stick to the surface and explode 2 seconds later ( or about the same time it takes for a plasma grenade to blow up after it sticks a player, give or take). If he hold the trigger when he fires he will be able to stall the detonation. So instead of just sticking the player and blowing up, it will actually stay on the player until the user detonates. Which means a player may get stuck in the back, the user stalls the detonation and waits for him to walk in to a group of teamates in which he kills all of them in one blow. It can also be used to set up traps by placing one on a nearby doorway and waiting for someone to walk through.

Now I have only one question for this set up. If a player is stuck by the mine, but the user has a remote detonation, what happens if the user is killed? Should the bomb instantly be detonated? Or should the player who got stuck be allowed to live because he killed the person with the weapon?

Remember the mine is detonated by the switch so if the player dies without detonating the mine, I believe the player who got stuck should live and the mine be disabled. However, as soon as the player with the weapon lets go of the trigger it will blow the player up. Which means the only way for a stuck player to survive is for the player to be killed while holding the trigger.

also, the weapon can not be detonated in the air. It must hit a surface before the explosive becomes armed. This is not the grenade launcher.

I have also incorporated a medal in to the weapon.

Stopwatch: Kill a player who is stalling the detonation of a mine.

BTW. A player will not be able to stall the detonation for the mine forever. A player can stall the detonation for a maximum 7 ( maybe 10) seconds. This way a player can’t just camp a doorway with a mine attached to it the entire game.

Anywsy those are my thoughts on the weapons. What do you guys think?

anyone have any opinion at all?

hello?

helllllooooo?

In First Strike Fred found a gun that fires a big slug.

The weapon in Halo 4 seems to fit that description pretty well.

You should really put a TL:DR LOL!
