Has it been in the game before? No? Then it counts as new.
Sad, but that’s how it is
Honestly,
After seeing the tweets from the Certain Affinity CEO regarding SBMM and just their overall track record. It’s clear to me Certain Affinity has a ton of potential with halo.
This is the same excuse Runescape had for years (might still have) but it turned out the engine was fully capable of a lot of it just that they only had artists making content and zero coders in house so everything was being made via templates and some intern with zero coding experience making new features that were buggy as hell and they had the excuse of spaghetti code when asked why it was still broken years after release.
I imagine the same thing is happening here, they have zero coders left and everything is made by artists using templates. If something doesn’t have a premade template before the guy who made the system was kicked to the curb then the engine is suddenly not capable of doing that thing.
It is why they aren’t giving us any truly new modes that aren’t just slight tweaks to existing modes that we could normally create ourselves via forge/custom games if they would get their crap together and finish it. It is why major core features like coop and forge both keep getting delayed.
Long story short, they clearly have zero coders in house, only people working there are managers and artists making crap to sell us at criminally high prices.
I think halo 5 was the death of the story. It just did so much wrong and left whatever sequal (Infinite in this case) in a spot where it had to either awkwardly continue the story or start a new one.
Infinite chose the route of starting a new one…kind of…while giving us the cliff notes of how the previous story ended, satisfying neither approach.
The narrative is just aimless now, with 343 throwing enemies at us hoping something sticks.
The story and campaign were definitely better. Halo 4 multiplayer doesn’t hold a candle to Halo 5’s multiplayer. I’d argue Halo 5 is still better than Infinite.
