I am hoping S2 brings a lot of new content and really makes a splash, but as of right now, the game is dying.

That quote isn’t exactly accurate from what I can tell. Before you go off, isn’t a gotcha or a dunk. The video I found is titled “We Are 343 Industries.”
At 3:17, there’s a quote that goes as follows:
“One of the things that we’re going to try and do is have a much more open dialogue with the community…”
They never said anything about the engine allowing them to do that, but that’s really not the point of OP’s post. The point is, they’re failing to maintain that open dialogue.
