Does anyone know of a more cordial site?
I really love having a place to ask questions or discuss topics about Halo, which has been my favorite game series since it debuted, but you can’t do that in a few areas of Waypoint anymore. No matter what you start the topic about in the Halo 4 forum, some whiner will show up and hijack the thread. If you start a topic that’s about campaign or isn’t negative enough, no one looks at it and it gets buried under a bunch of DMR/“343 sukz” topics that actually belong in the Matchmaking thread.
There’s too much of it for the monitors to be able to police and/or move it all to its proper place. Criticisms have their place, and I have a few of my own, but we’ve long passed the point of much of it being constructive; folks are just screaming into echo chambers on a lot of the issues. There’s not really a good solution to this deal, so I’m wondering if there are other forums on the net that have a good Halo community and aren’t bogged down by all the complaining. This really only applies to the Halo 4 and Matchmaking sections, but it’s the current game and that is where a lot of things I’d like to discuss belong. So, at this point, it’s either migrate elsewhere for those talks or keep questions/ideas/discussion topics to myself and withdraw from my fandom a bit. I enjoy discourse, but coming here has begun to exasperate and frustrate.
So a quick question: How long have you been coming to Halo forums? I ask this because what you see in the Halo 4 Forum is nothing new. You are right that there are a lot of negative topics, but I find that people don’t really care about positive ones, even the people crying out for them.
No not really, but I do like this community, most hear are constructive in their posts, only a few people hear ruin it, the only reason you hear them the most is because they are the loudest.
And lots of screamers most likely learn after a few bans, they say our mods on Waypoint are strict.
I see that as a good thing.

I lurked from time to time since late 2011 and actually became an active poster during the Halo 4 release build-up. During my years playing Halo and being a fan, I’ve spent the vast majority of time as a campaign player and fiction reader. I didn’t get constant Xbox Live until sometime during the Reach era. Before that, I’d play Halo 3 and Reach online when I’d get a trial or local, split-screen custom games with friends in the older titles. I guess Waypoint became more of a focus for me when 343 officially took the reins from Bungie.
I’m not new to the internet. I get that it’s a 90% negativity to 10% neutral/positivity world on the web. Just since release though, it feels like things in the Halo 4 forum have devolved. What qualify as and should be Matchmaking threads have multiplied in that section and the campaign/story/easter egg/help posts have nowhere to exist now. I’m not saying there’s more negative opinions than there always has been, just that what was one fourteen-page long DMR topic a few months back is now fourteen one-page long threads every single day. The Halo Universe section still functions beautifully and isn’t choked with redundant topics; people discuss like-minded things in the appropriate, like-minded thread. I suppose I’m just looking for a place to discuss Halo 4-specific topics in a more organized setting.
I find it easy to ignore bad threads with the power of my mind. You should try it sometime.

I appreciate the sass and/or condescension. It’s an ever so original, exotic and flavorful meal. It’s not about ignoring them, I already do that; I don’t subject myself to threads which do not interest me. I get it, though. “Suck it up” needs to be my motto. There is no utopic alternate forum to go to when I have a Halo 4-specific question or issue I need help with.
