The Needler is way to OP

Halo 4 needler OP… I defiantly never got killed millions of times by that thing…

I think it’s fine. Like people already mentioned there is a limited ammo supply, the range is limited and the booster/increased movement speed work as a good counter.

I find that the needlers biggest problem is it’s best in 1 vs 1 situations where your close to the enemy. If the enemy has teammates you’ll probably die well before you even shoot enough needles to make them super combine.

Also easy to avoid if you have Thruster. Thrust to one side and you usually counter if you realize it early enough.

Also I heard from a friend the repulsor can deflect needler rounds but I mean that isn’t that practical.

It’ll only deflect like 2 of the needles, the rest of the clip will still get you

Yeah so pretty much useless.

You could use a Repulsor Jump to dodge the Needles though. The tracking isn’t strong enough to track you moving that fast.

Its not considered broken bc its severly limited. In close spaces when you have clear tracking of a player its great. In medium and long ranges its useless.

I feel like the Needler is pretty balanced already as it is. I rarely see people using it as they choose better weapons already.

Yeah I never see anyone pick it up. I think mostly because there is so manny ways to counter it.

I feel this is more so the case because people feel it’s a bad weapon and don’t want to bother using it more then anything. It is a pretty solid weapon in close combat and I can normally win 1 vs 1’s if they get too close.

Also love destroying people using swords or hammers when I have a needler too. Probably one of the better hard counters towards those weapons lol. Even if they grapple I can almost always kill them first since it forces them in a straight line, aka garuntee needle hits.

It’s definitely not a bad weapon.

You just need to get those close to mid-range encounters.

I’ve been using it a fair bit on Empyrean.

It does infact take half a clip to get a super combine. You can only get 2 kills in one clip and all the needles have to hit. That’s not realistic so you’re typically going to get 1 kill per clip. It’s fairly balanced for its intended use.

The Mangler was never op even though “people” (pros) complained about it (and now it’s not even used in competitive play so what was the point?) and the Needler is fine.

I’m not going to go into anything more with that because the first 3 posts by @General_Fox @SQUiB_2154 @Fos_Kuvol sum it up perfectly.

For whatever reason I was never really aiming to pick up the Thruster on my spawns. Now, I just about always go for it because of essential it is and beneficial in every single combat situation against your opponent. Especially the Needler!

The needler absolutely shreds in those mid-range encounters and it’s absolutely awesome sneaking up behind someone and unloading an entire clip into the back of them.

Mangler is actually pretty quick if you’re good at landing 3 shots in a row. The problem is it’s hard to be consistent on this. It’s faster at killing people then other weapons in the field. Because of that it’s not really used all that much, even by people like me, because the easier weapons to use are generally more reliable, so we tend to stick to them.

Needler’s really good, but it’s not as powerful as something like a Bulldog, which it competes with in its range bracket.

Yeah it’s never been overly powerful because it requires a fairly decent amount of skill to use the weapon effectively. Everyone just complained about the Pop 'n Bop where you’d just fire once and then melee for the kill. “Oh it’s cheap and doesn’t require skill” well neither does the bulldog, Hydra, sniper, cindershot, heatwave or the plasma pistol when charged. They can all do the same thing. Using the sword doesn’t require much skill, but it’s the king of cqc. The Mangler was an effective headshot weapon at close range and a reliable surprise counter for cqc. Was reliable.
