Ok so I couldn’t help but notice that the Needler . . . . is pretty darn powerful. Its projectile tracking is really good, the needles are fast, its firerate is fast, it can supercombine pretty fast. These supercombine (see what I did there?) into the ultimate automatic close range weapon. I was actually a fan of the needler actually being useful for like the third time in Halo history. However, it seems like the needler is actually so strong that the AR and Bulldog have serious difficulties in close range with it. My working theory is that the needler is actually meant to be a close range weapon which is practically unrivaled in VERY close range, but unlike the AR or Bullodog, has almost zero reliability in anything past close-range, while the Bulldog can deal decent damage at closeish medium range and the AR can deal decent damage at full medium range. So the Needler has become a purely situational weapon for if some enemy comes at you with a close range weapon.
What do you guys think? Do you think the Needler should be buffed, stay where it is, or be nerfed?

Definitely nerfed. Even up to medium range it outslays an AR or BR way too hard. You either have to put the moves on someone or they have to be bad cause the thing is strong.
Liking the new needler, seems like a mid way between its strongest and weakest versions. A good balanced close range SMG of sorts.
Don’t think it should be touched till we do PvP, but I’m glad it’s not useless like it is in most games.
The Needler is one of my favorite guns. Glad to see it’s getting some love.
Nerf it. It was weaker in H5 AND we had thrust to counter it.

It’s hard to base judgement off of Halo 5 because the sandbox was just “every gun kills well”, I think that the Needler’s job is a devastating close range weapon that it really easy to dodge at any other range while also being a suppression weapon. In most games it was just straight up useless due to its projectile speed being too slow. So at least it isn’t useless for once.

This.
The poor Marine bots can’t exactly offer up much resistance, so I’ll reserve making any serious judgements about the Needler (or the rest of the weapon sandbox) until we get some 4v4 matches going (or at least get some ODST and Spartan-level bots).
But as it is now, yeah, the Needler is a absolute beast! Kinda hoping it doesn’t get nerfed since a Needler that shreds everything up close is still better than the pink paperweight it’s been in most Halo weapon sandboxes (sans Halo 5). Next up: a beefed up Needle Rifle. Pretty please, 343!
