Think about it. We’ve already had about four variations of Blood Gulch in past games, those being:
-The Original
-Coagulation
-Valhalla(Took heavy amounts of Inspiration from Blood Gulch, the experience felt very similar along with the map layout).
-Hemmorage
Would you really want another update to this map? Or would you rather have a fresh new experience? I would certainly want to see something new, because i’ve had it with recycled maps in new games.
BUT, if one map had to appear in some way in Halo 4, it would definitely be Death Canyon from Halo PC. I believe i’ve had some of the funnest CTF matches in Halo while playing on that map. It was vehicular, fresh, tactical, and pure fun. In comparison to the Xbox version, not many players have experienced Halo PC and the excellent maps that appeared in the PC version of the game. Those being maps like Danger Canyon, Ice Fields, Death Island, Infinity, and Timberland.
I’d really like to see at least one more of those maps receive more love(Timberland already did in CEA, came out great). They deserve to be more widely experienced.
While the teaser pictures makes it really seem like the Gulch is returning, I still have a tiny bit of hope deep down inside me that tells me 343 is fooling us and is going to give us all something completely unexpected and exciting.
One more thing: Sandtrap absolutely needs to have a worthy successor. Maybe not in the retail game, but at least in a DLC pack. Pure vehicular mayhem and great memories on that map.

Valhalla was a great map, but i do agree, although Halo 4 will need a large open map otherwise BTB wont exist, i wouldn’t be too annoyed as long as they innovate or reinvent it.
> heck yeah I want Blood gulch! It’s my favorite map of all time. But i see where you’re coming from.
I respect the fact that people love the classics, but I wish more were willing to stop playing it safe and try something new. Halo 3 introduced completely new maps like Sandtrap, The Pit, Construct, and High Ground that some regard as some of Halo’s best to this day. I want new experiences that I will remember years from now, just like I did with those maps.
I’d like a brand new Bloog Gulch inspired map The setup for the map was the best in the series IMO with Sidewinder right behind it. I’d like to see more canyon based snow maps though. Not enough snow in Halo.
No. You are wrong. Blood Gulch MUST return. It’s too perfect for range battles, vehicles and strategic game-types. I would personally be surprised if it doesn’t come back. 343 wants to please the core gamers, whom made Halo what it is today.
P.S. Valhalla was NOT a Gulch remake… It was a “spiritual successor”. Like Lockout to Guardian.
I would argue that Stand-off in H3 was based off of Blood Gulch as well as the ones you listed.
And OT: I agree. It would be nice to have some new maps, but maybe cycle in a Blood Gulch remake with some of the inevitable Forge additions to matchmaking.

> From the very vague glimpse we’ve received of it, it really has the Gulch feel. But I’m glad to know not to expect a remake.
I’d love to see a “spiritual successor” to Blood Gulch, in the way that Valhalla was, or Avalanche to Sidewinder.

I never called it a remake. I called it a variation of the Gulch. It had very similar gameplay and map design, so I like to consider it more of a successor, not a spiritual successor. That’s just MY opinion though, I do not expect everyone to automatically agree with my perspective of something.
And on the “it must return” subject, you are wrong. It returned two years ago via Hemmorage, which played almost exactly like the original(More Coagulation than anything). And I’m quite sure that we can have a map that doesn’t play just like the Gulch, but still delivers the perfect fusion of what you mentioned.
