The Mute Ban Curse?

Questions regarding a 1 week mute ban, and what would constitute this occurring.

As somebody who prefers to not talk with majority of people I come across online, I prefer to keep my voice chat settings to “Team and Party” only. And seeing as how I usually only play with my friends online, I find it odd that I have been mute banned when I don’t even talk and hear majority of players I come across.

What’s more confusing is this happened to one of my friends two weeks ago, who was at my house, and received the notification during a game. We found it odd, but nonetheless it didn’t really bother us as we were using our Astro’s which were daisy-chained anyway, so being muted really had no effect on us.

Then again, last night I had another friend over and the same situation as noted above occurred. He received the mute ban, we were confused, but again, didn’t really bother us.

But now today, I received the mute ban and I’m starting to notice a pattern. I’m not here to flame, rage, or yell. I’m simply just trying to understand what would cause such an odd sort of events to occur, and how I could go about preventing this from happening again.

Thanks in advance!

my only thoughts is, if you have a Kinect, then its probubly broadcasting all the noise it picks in the room to everybody else, so instead of listening to this they mute you, hence you get a mute ban

edit to answer post after mine; (when I have played with friends that have Kinect, there is a speaker in the kinect that picks up and rebroadcasts the sceen noise and every other noise it picks up, when those friends turn that off the noise quits.)

or if your using your mics to give callout to enemy encounters/positions, this might disturb some peoples tacticle thinking (you know the run down the middle of the bridge, get shot, then continually repeat that tactic type)so they mute you and you end up with a ban

It could be that you’re somehow broadcasting continuous noise. I’ve never heard of the Kinect doing this, but I’ve had a broken headset do this to me before, as well as a noisy fan in the background. The speaker icon above your player card in the pre-game lobby will light up if you’re broadcasting. Check that.

If there was a random on your guys team or if they were alone and talking that’s probably why. I don’t why more people don’t talk but they seem to hate on the people who do. If your mic is messing up or you have a kinect voice then that’s A second reason why. Or you been unlucky to get file complained for no reason as a lot of people do that.

The Kinect will often cause a delayed echo which can be quite distracting. Like the previous poster mentioned, watch to see if you are showing as talking, even when you aren’t.

On headset, maybe there is a microphone sensitivity setting that might be too high?
