First off, I’m pretty sure most people would agree that Halo 2 had the greatest music of the entire Halo series, and is one of the greatest musical soundtracks in video game history.
However, the topic of this post is our opinion of the music of Halo 4. Initially I was kind of peeved that Halo 4 was taking a completely new approach, including abandoning the iconic Halo theme in favor of a style to forever associate with 343i.
The key to making the music of Halo 4, oddly enough, is sounding as little as the original trilogy’s music as possible. The problem with previous Halo music was that it was GREAT and BAD mixed together, but if 343i has strung together a consistently awesome and distinct sound free from all existing Halo influences, I might defecate out the Titanic 2.
I just hate the dubstep -Yoink- in the trailers, and the direction Davidge is taking this game. The music was probably one of the most important aspects of the campaign. It sounds like he’s trying to fuse a forced, cheezy epicness under the name of Halo. I think it’s a big mistake and he should have continued Marty’s vision on the music, because it is the only one that fits.
One of the things I dread over is the fact that I have to listen to this stuff during the playthrough.
> I hope to god that the music in the weapons trailers aren’t in the campaign…
Don’t worry… Dubstep isn’t allowed.
OT: Halo 2 OST was beautiful and still is beautifil. To me: it remains the good memories from the past and makes me feel happy about life. Never forgotten.
Thank you Bungie♥
Halo 4 OST: I haven’t heard all of them yet, but there is one that I heard. It’s absolutely beautiful. I think the direction 343i are taking with the music is brilliant.
However, I will definitely miss the classical Halo Theme. Such an amazing intro and flow.
