Me and my buddy were playing the other night, doing our usual rounds of Halo 5 MM, when he pipes up with “You know, you’re the only one I’ve ever seen use the slide maneuver regularly.”
And come to think of it, he was right; I’m the only one I’ve seen who slides on a regular basis! Why is that? I like it because it almost acts as a supplemental “thrust”. I can slide toward someone up close, then thrust aside or backwards and throw them into a tizzy. It also helps break an enemy’s targeting on you if you’re just about to reach cover. There have been plenty of times where I successfully get to to cover with half health; something that would not have been possible without slide. Also, there are an ultra-tiny handful of places that it helps you traverse the map, like on Fathom, next to the Splinter spawns (I think Splinter grenades spawn there…).
Please tell me I’m not the only one who slides.

Run + Slide + Jump + Thrust
I slide to grab the Overshield all the time it feels badass loll. Mine would def me stabilizers tho! Used them to get a nice sniper headshot across coliseum and was like damn why don’t use this?
but I have manual stabilizers on with bumper jumper so it’s not really thumb friendly and halo has made so used to jumping and shooting I don’t think about it.
Ive seen some ppl dodge some well place grenades with it tho

I like to Chacha slide, I don’t see very many players do it either.
There should be a custom map with several man cannons that let you slide for more than a second. Just a constant state of sliding. That would be great. Like a huge slip-n-slide map.
Always slide. Slide jump thrust is one of the fastest ways to traverse large maps on foot.

I’ve seen stablizers be used to delay the fall to a jump when strafing. Experienced players such as myself will be able to look down in time with the fall. It’s killed me once or twice. Not enough people do it.

The only thing that was patched was the superslide on ramps with it. The combo still works just fine.
I see it used frequently. Your friend isn’t very observant.
Actually I use it all the time…not particularly because it’s useful, but because it’s addicting.
I do this a lot. slide with a shotgun then thrust to the left or the right
I slide a lot too especially in Warzone.
