The more you know.

Just thought to share this with those that aren’t aware. Like I was.

The SAW isn’t named the SAW because 343 was trying to be different with the acronyms and start giving the weapons word like acronyms to make them seem more badass.

The SAW, Squad Automatic Weapon, is actually a currently used weapon designation. It is a term used for assault rifles designed to shoot for longer periods of time with heavier barrels and bigger magazines. This is a type of weapon used in a light machine gun manner but without the specialized ammunition, SAWs use the same rounds as the rest of the squad, nor the multi-person crews generally required of a full blown machine gun.

The more you know.

Knew this ages ago when I read the weapon’s description when it was first announced.

But I’ll give you credit for knowing it uses magazines, not clips.

Thank the Flood on B.net.

“OMG U NUB! IT’S NOT CLIP! IT’S MAGAZINE! SRSLY! GET IT RIGHT!”

That said, clip rolls off the tongue better than mag or magazine.
