The more I play, the worse I get... help?

Comparing this week’s games versus the past week’s, I am getting so much worse. My K/D ratio has been negative way too often. I seem to be losing just about every 1v1 encounter…

WTF is going on? I went from being one of the top 3 players in most games to the bottom most player. I usually use the DMR, did get get nerfed or something?

Should I stop playing and take a break for a week or something? Or maye just keep playing to hopefully get better?

Thanks,
From an apparently horrible player.

true skill is working … you’re being matched with people around you’re skill level and slightly better.

loosing those 1v1 ecounters doesn’t mean much, there is a lot more to it then just the pure skill.

Not really sure what to say to help you out,
Do you get frustrated when you die/lose? If so, just keep cool, i find when i tend to get annoyed when i die i start to play poorly, but when i keep calm and just have a laugh i tend to play much much better and always end positive.

People are getting better. You need to adapt and try something new. I had a similar problem, was good when the game first came out, went on a so-so streak and changed my play style, now I’m back on the top of the leader boards every game, and getting better. I had 39 kills in a game last night, with only 6 deaths. My best game ever in terms of kills. The next game I went 19 and 0, which is a perfection, but didn’t get the medal because the game had to change hosts because someone must of quit. Keep playing, you’ll be fine. Try some new things.

what above person said.

contrary to popular belief, you do get matched against people who are the closet people to your skill level.

You know what else sucks? Those people who have won 950/1000 games. Guess what, the game keeps trying to find people on their skill level, but they can’t ever find a match. So what happens is these people just keep searching forever and ever. Bet it takes over 10minutes for them to find a match.

Not saying this in a mean way: Step outside, go out and do something. Come back to Halo 4 afterwards and see how you do/give it another try.

Go back and watch your games in theater…I know it sounds geeky but its how I look at my descision making with a goal of trying to improve…it’s hard to analyse what happened without looking at the fight + bigger picture. you may find that your being team shot etc…

Just my 2 cents

Indeed, every time i see a stream of BTB pro players in a party it takes them way to long to find a match.

I think everyone else is just improving. Remember how much everyone sucked on the first day? Its like this in all halo games.

First day I was beating br and dmr players just using the pistol.

There’ll be a fresh intake of noobs on Christmas day.

i probably suck as well now compared to everyone else as I haven’t had a chance to play properly yet. It is essay season at uni!

I didn’t know about the skill-matching thing. That makes sense if it’s true.

I’m happy to hear that the game thinks I’m good enough to play in the big-leagues, but I’m sad to find out the truth when I get owned constantly.

You are no longer playing 12 year olds who care more about how their armor looks than the gameplay.

True-Skill really does work, I played on my bro’s account and went on a 22-0 in the first match (no Gold).

After that, I switched to my account (yeah, Gold again!) and the matches were so much more challenging, I bearly make it to a 2,0 k/d-ratio.

Try using different loadouts, change your playstyle, experiment

Try running some custom games with friends to practice your aim. Lower your sensitivity. Don’t be overly agressive. It’s the little things man.

That just means that true skill is working.

I noticed it as well. I used to casually destroy and now lately I have been getting my butt kicked. I have to try in majority of my matches now and if I slip up I bite the dust hard. True Skill is working pretty well.

Also, there isn’t as many players playing Halo 4 as when it launched. Most of the players remaining are strictly Halo players, so their skill is higher.

Try the BR for close encounters its much easier to land your shots. I also play on a smaller TV and do really good I went 55 and 9 in a king of the hill match. I play on a 32" tv and I do much better than playing on my 54".

I do find my aim to be getting worse and sometimes when I get into a melee war I’ll end up spinning in circles to find the enemy. Lowering the sensitivity seems like a good idea.

Halo 4 has a hidden trueskill system.

If you really want some practice, add me online, I’ll let you run with me and my guys in some objective game types, we tend to wreck.
