The MLG Playlist should be similar....

The MLG playlist in Halo 4 should be similar to the vanilla settings of Halo 4.

Hear me out

The problem with Reach’s MLG settings was that it strayed too far from Halo Reach’s vanilla settings. The movement speed was far different, weapon spawn times were quite different, maps were different, there was a less variety of weapons, DMR was No Bloom, etc. etc

Well you may ask what is the main problem with this? It prevents players from joining the playlist because of how “foreign” it feels to the community. I know several good players with single digit onyx percentages who feel that they cant adapt to the MLG settings and then try to revert back to vanilla/85% settings.

Halo 4 looks like it doesn’t have as much as frustration as Halo Reach. Minimal bloom, no Armor Lock (Thank goodness), sprint fits well with the game, and you can choose to spawn with whatever weapon you want so no more “Damn!!! AR Starts!”

Of course new additions have been added to Halo 4 like Tactical Packages and Support Upgrades, so we can not form a valid opinion on those aspects of the game, but they probably will not be in the MLG playlists due to the effects if has for Radar and competitive play.

Ideal MLG Settings that are competitive and not completely straying apart from Halo 4 IMO

Loadouts with balanced weapons (DMR, BR, Carbine, and maybe in the AR and Storm Rifle)
Why? Halo MLG is gaining a reputation for being the same repetitive bland (DMR/BR). Well what if we added a more unique sandbox? This will attract new players to the playlists and help them get a feel of competitive play.

Sprint… When MLG took out sprint and bloom, MLG was a pretty damn good playlist (better than H3, IMO). But now that Halo 4 is emphasizing sprint, it should be in competitive playlists now that everyone spawns with it. Think about it: MLG never tried Sprint and No Bloom.

Still need more info on specializations

A more detailed weapon sandbox… Add the sword, the scattershot, the shotgun. Adds more variety and more gameplay.

No ordnance drops even though it is pretty good for a casual based playlist

In order for the competitive fanbase to increase, the MLG playlist needs to stick similar with Vanilla settings

Thanks

Wrong forum, but I agree to an extent. We have already been over why Reach had to be changed, it was unpopular and not up to competitive standards.

MLG will make whatever adjustments they deem necessary to produce the best gameplay that emphasizes team work and individual skill.

So hope that vanilla Halo 4 is good out of the box so that MLG won’t have to change much. The core of Halo 4 looks good right now because when you take away all of the CoD and Reach like aspects, H4 looks scarily similar to H2 and H3.

Expect them to not pick up AA’s, loadouts, instant respawn, kill cams, weapon drops, and some of the packaged maps.

Also, I should inb4 some ignorant chap with his “LolMLG” slander.

In a perfect world I’d say yes, but I don’t want sprint in MLG.

I’m sure Instant re spawns in Slayer won’t be that bad, but there aren’t any kill cams…

Making it similar to default isn’t going to attract people. They’ll still be turned off by the notion that MLG players are loud and obnoxious.

The best thing that could happend would be if the default settings were competitive. Seeing as they’re not, MLG will just have to strip out all the junk if they want to get something remotely decent.

Oh yes, thanks for reminding me I left out some things.

AAs are fine except for some of the powerful ones like Hardlight Shield, and PV

Hologram and T Pack are OK

The reason Reach MLG failed EVEN after they did all the tweaks with the TU was that it was just too different.

Of course you do not want to change too much, but if they have to change a lot, Halo 4 won’t be picked up by the circuit.

Instant respawns in Slayer are a horrid idea (instant spawns are bad period). There are several in-game examples I could use to explain my point, however I’ll leave it at this:

Even in Reach MLG when sprint was still in, MLG implemented the AA delay to make sure you couldn’t just sprint off your spawn. They recognize that dying should be penalized - and you shouldn’t just istant spawn and clean up your own kill (REALLY easy to do if you’re smart).

Also I was under the impression I saw killcams. My mistake.

Hardlight shield is so overrated. It’s called a grenade or moving 5 feet to the left. PV only let’s you see people, it doesn’t help you kill them…

Spawn system in Halo 4 is different. You spawn next to your teammates, so no more new spawn points.

But Instant Spawning shouldn’t be in MLG settings.

If the Spawns are done correctly, than Instant Respawns wouldn’t be bad. If they are done like every other crappy game than probably not.

You probably want to post this at mlgpro.com. They are the one in charge of the playlist settings not 343.

I’d imagine it will be like Reach. Some AAs taken out, limited to what “perks”/weapons we can use. We probably will use loadouts but like I said limited like CoD was when they had MLG

They could be pick ups on maps so that everyone is not spamming it.

There are already several posts like this, but not too much on Waypoint. Same with Halocouncil.

The first part of your post is ignorance at its highest, so I’ll just ignore that.

Secondly - I was unaware that you knew how well H4 played at its core - which since it looks A LOT like H2 / H3, it will most likely play better than Reach did.

Of course MLG will strip away all of the gimmicks - because aside from T-pack, everything looks horrible for skill based, fast gameplay.

> Making it similar to default isn’t going to attract people. They’ll still be turned off by the notion that MLG players are loud and obnoxious.

I’m going to stop you right there because that is just stereotypical

Well that’s a terrible idea.

I can guarantee you MLG will have static, predictable spawning implemented.

It was like that Halo 2, I think. Worked out good

The less competitive the cores game play is the more likely MLG will have to change it and make it competitive .

MLG and normal seething should be very similar
The more that’s taken out the harder it is to get new people to play .
