I do think that would fix most issues, maybe a slight lunge tone down and needing to deplete a slight bit more shield before allowing bleed through, I don’t think that is an absurd desire. Would still allow plenty of applicable uses for melee.
pal melee kills have been a thing since the start of the franchise its here dn it aint going away
I have the issue of people going through me or my assassination doesn’t count when I clearly hit them.
The real problem is sprint, it has made the double beat down OP since reach.
…really the only negative is the melee speed. but even then. it has been like that for every single halo. since like 2. double tapping melee or finishing with a melee, it really do be like that though
After playing today I’m 100% sure the biggest issue is player collision and hit registration. I had a guy lunge through me with a sword. I didn’t die. I just turned around and started shooting him. He got me on the second one, but it never should’ve come to that.

The melee is actually a 3 tap in Halo 2. The first melee won’t even bring down the shields.
Melee needs work; so do most weapons. They are just - inconsistent.
I believe it’s because of the physics engine. Which really hurts the game in the short and long term; You can’t fix an underlying engine easily; and it will likely not be fixed.
I think this game dies with a whimper. Looking at dev team; just the wrong kind of nerd built this game.
It’s amazing how the first halo’s blow this one out of the water, and they had teams working on harsher time crunches and with much less staff/tools available to them.
Games need to get over their hyper focus on micro-transactions, or the gaming market is dead from the standpoint of any adult player looking for quality games. Children and young adults will play anything; but from the standpoint of an adult gamer - we want quality products, not a sales pitch.

well then since H3… since i think CE was also a 3 tap, maybe, might’ve just missed most of the hits
One thing I hate about the melee is that if I melee first, then I get killed lol. Its like my melee does more damage to me than it does to them. Its infuriating.
nah… they had Grifball and even had the Covenant form a team (RvB side series reference)
Just reminded me of how prevalent I get assassinated while LOOKING at the enemy!
so frustratingly stupid. Happened a lot in Reach as well.

I feel that the melee should get some form of nerf with the damage. i might be wrong, but i dont remember 1 melee hit from a normal gun taking mmy entire shield and half my health. i know banished weapons have a small melee buff, but i honestly feel that it shouldnt buff it to this level. its to a point where im finding people just shooting your sheilds to half then booking it to you to melee
The melee has been this way since Halo 3. Melee from half shields will kill you.
oh…then i revoke my last statement lol. idky it feels stronger here than other games.
Definately a desync issue.
I feel like I have a fairly short lunge distance, but at times opponents will lunge far distances with melee to hit.
Then of course as mentioned, no collision. That mess up things a lot.
Why is there even a lunge mechanic when there is so much movement option this was a mechanic since Halo 1 and Halo 1 legit had no abilities or sprint, lunge legit is a cop out mechanic what skill is there when the game does it for you?
Yeah but every weapon besides the br, rockets, laser or sword were pretty much just melee weapons
