The Melee is Overpowered Garbage

From my experience, melee is relatively balanced. You should get punished if you get too close to an enemy. However, desync is a huge problem causing hits not to register, or having you get melee’d after your enemy is already dead.

All of that is meaningless when you can’t run backwards as fast as they can Sprint at you in small maps with plenty of corridors to hide

There are times where I dominate with guns, and other times, the desync is so bad that I can’t even pop shields, so I have to rely on grenade sticks and melees to get kills. That’s absolutely an issue in Halo Infinite. Never have I had to give up on shooting entirely due to abysmal netcode and ping before this game.

If it works properly I might never have complained about it, but there are plenty of times I punch people away from me and as they’re moving backwards they suddenly magically Plunge Into Me and it’s pathetic to see that crap in the game.

You got corner campers in all kinds of games, I don’t know what to tell you. You should be glad that the Bulldog sucks compared to the OG shotgun, or you would be getting one shot by that instead

Getting shot through walls and shooting people through walls occurs far too often in this game that is also another major complaint of mine.

Can’t disagree at all with what you said. But in other games I had a serious Fighting Chance to kill the noob meleeing me twice before they could get the second one off.

I’m sure 40% of the issues in the game are somewhat related to the servers. Melee connection, front smack, desync, challenges not counting, aim assist randomly not working, shot behind cover, weapon ttk, BTB not connecting, etc. If 343 fixes their netcode and Microsoft fixes their Azure servers, most of our issues should vanish

To be fair, if someone is sprinting at you, they are unable to shoot you. So unless you’ve taken prior damage, you should be able to pepper them enough to one shot them at half shields when the melee trade comes along. You’ll lose your shield of course, but it isn’t like they can just sprint up to you and wreck your trash without any consequences.

actually you did.

i assumed nothing, only took what you said and used it against you, and now you are backpedaling from everything you have said thus far.

if you’re upset that i referred to you as bad, that’s an insecurity problem. you had the backbone to insult, have the backbone to take them. you used “un-skilled” i used “bad”. same thing. i dont know you so it cant be personal but you certainly are taking it that way. you can keep complaining about one of the games most basic mechanics but i’m fairly sure you wont be getting that nerf you want.

gonna be honest, there needs to be a adjustment to it because with how prevalent it is now its getting annoying especially with the stupid hit reg

halo ce didn’t have lunging melee and reach straight up had clashing with swords so why not with melee?

Sorry if you generalized yourself into the noob category, but I was only venting my frustrations at noobs using it as a crutch, not implying everyone that uses it is a noob. That is a fault of your reading comprehension, so, once again, next time don’t make false assumptions. I have not backpedaled in the slightest, you are just being irrelevant and rude. I don’t care if you wish to falsely believe I am bad or not, my skin is plenty thick. I am just correcting your false assertions and now you are being Hateful and bitter for being called out.

Are we just discovering that power weapons are powerful? In the offline modes like campaign and AI training the lounge is shorter than it was in 3 and Reach. Online, however, all lounges seem to have an inconsistent distance due to ping/lag + lack of player collision.

Plus, the Sword as a reliable counter now. It’s called the Repulsor. Let him get close while peppering rounds into him then slam that -Yoink!- into a wall. He’ll be easy pickings.

This is very true. I sometimes camp by sword and wait for an enemy to pick it up, while they are jumping back I repulse them off of the map while bagging the floor to assert dominance.

Happens to me on that map a lot, even when I don’t go for the Sword.

I always die a little when it happens :frowning:

It doesn’t help that I still die after hitting them at least half a second earlier than them from their punch that shouldn’t even be a thing since she should have died

Hit registration is really the only issue right now. Once that’s fixed we can see what else may need to be done.

First things first, turn on player collision so people aren’t punching through each other. Then fix the hit registration/lag/Desync. This would probably fix most issues with melee in one quick swoop.

If any further adjustments are needed then we have a nice consistent base to do comparison tests. But melee has always been strong since Halo 2. That’s when Bungie defined the Golden Triangle. Guns, Melee and Grenades.

Just you wait until you see Destiny 2. Or Destiny. Or Halo 5: Guardians. Or Halo 4. Or Halo Reach. Or Halo 3 ODST. Or Halo 3. Or Halo 2. Or Halo CE.

Well the melee in CE was actually garbage. No lunge, and it legit took 3 melees to kill someone. Pretty sure even if they had no shields, but full health, they still wouldn’t die unless it was a backtap.
