The melee is a little too strong

I Believe the melee is way too strong, I just feel getting one shot while I still have shields left is kind of crazy and just end fights before they really get good. If Melee one shot with no shields then that’s fine but if I have any shields then I should survive with little health. And I also hope the bug with getting one shot from melee at full health gets fixed because that bug is game breaking.

I don’t think so. I think its inconsistent, especially distance where it initiates the lunge for the melee animation.

I agree the lunge is inconsistent, but if the whole game is who can get the melee in first just to one shot me with my shield where is the room for skill?

Melee has always been strong in the Halo series.

yea definitely but I’m full health and dying to melee and halo has never been this fast soo maybe strong melee isn’t good for what its trying to turn into.

Melee is a bit of a mess right now, between the lunges working from too long of a distance sometimes, the lack of collision allowing people to phase through you and quickly turn around to smack you in the back, I’m ok with the damage though.

I don’t know then maybe im the only one experiencing this

One shot? That is an assassination. It’s fine. It’s your fault if you are not watching your radar. It might be a terrible radar but you have enough time to turn around.

Normal Melee isn’t one shot.

I don’t think it’s intended, but I have definitely had the occasional “one shot” melee death. Melee lunging is extremely inconsistent and the lack of collision makes melee fights look hysterical when watched from a distance. Hopefully some of these things will be addressed for retail, or shrift thereafter.

of course back shot are one shot im talking about from the front

I agree. I think my shields should at least be in the “light beeping” range before people can kill me with it.

The melee strength is the same as it’s always been (which in and of itself isn’t a strong argument) but I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. You have you constantly manage your distance is you don’t want to get beat down.

On the other hand, if you are getting one hit beat down from the front, that is definitely a bug. It’s probably the soft collision issue. I’ve seen clips where someone punches “through” an opponent and then once they cross through, the lunge takes over and turns the attacker around, causing them to punch you in the back (well the game sees it that way). It’s broken

Yeah there are rare cases where people are getting smashed in the face to death instantly for no rhyme or reason. Hopefully gets fixed soon.

its the same melee system as Halo 3, which has been the preferred melee system since they title updated Reach and fixed the busted system that game had that nobody liked.

Personally i feel the Melee is pretty faithful to the originals, Yeah it is for sure powerful but it has always been powerful since Halo 3, It can be avoided with the right weapons and keeping the distance.

Is that why melee has been such a pain in the -Yoink!-? I’ve been consistently backstabbing people only for it to not register as a backstab.

The damage isn’t wrong, but the collisions problems, and faster, lighter movements makes a great difference, the netcode too.

no, that’s just the game being a glitchy mess so far. Half the time melees whiff, half the time you can melee the air and someone in your general vicinity dies, its a crap shoot

These forums could really use some moderation since I’m kind of getting tired of replying to dozens of duplicate threads. Most of these complaints are almost entirely brand new people that never played Halo or any fps game before, because the melee or knife in nearly every game is always a 2 hit kill and 1 hit from behind. Every Halo has a 1 hit back smack or assassination.

Don’t stand still. Watch your radar. Don’t stay zoomed in on your scope. Just pay attention to your surroundings and you’ll get used to playing over time. There are plenty of ninjas out there like myself, and people that went for Venator and Wetwork in 4, so you’re going to be back smacked if any veterans see you camping or just standing around. This is the friendliest advice I can give you and everyone else new to Halo.

If you’re suffering a clipping death due to lack of having collision, that’s an actual issue that is plaguing everyone, and shouldn’t be in Halo. I hate enemies and teammates walking through me when I’m in a melee fight or throwing grenades.

I agree; I think they should turn it down just ever so slightly.
