Halo did not invent “nothing”, everything came from Unreal tournament and quake. It’s microsoft’s arena shooter but since doom there have been arena shooters If for you a “poor” and “noobs” mechanic is the essence of halo, you are insulting your favorite game.
Those weapons are “Ok” because they have a cooldown and picking them up is very complicated, the two teams fight to have them. So there I do not say anything for the hammer / sword.
Comparing Halo to Overwatch and Apex is like comparing apples and oranges. The only thing in common is that they’re FPS games with shooting mechanics in them, outside of that they’re completely different games that play differently. It’s like comparing apples and oranges when you like apples more, and complaining that oranges taste different than apples because you thought all fruit tastes the same.
I’d say your only options at this point are to stop playing and go play games that you actually think are fair and balanced, or, I don’t know, don’t get too close? Aim for the head more?
But come one man, managing distance is so nooby and poor. Managing distance is for noobs - you should be able to assert your dominance purely through shooting mechanics and nothing else - all other mechanics are for unbalanced games. Why?.. Well… Because other games, that’s why /s
Halo is an ARENA-FPS is not inventing a new “GENRE” many of his weapons were based on unreal tournament
Overwatch, apex-arenas and Halo all 3 are Arenas-FPS. So do not come to me with the argument that in HALO it is something different, you shoot and kill as in quake / unreal point. Even the HALO modes capture the flag, control, slayer are existing game modes on OLD-GAMES
Apex, OW and HALO share 4-6 second awaraness based “encounters” with “Strafes” + “Mobility” “Acuracy”. That’s why I play at 3, in these games they don’t kill with 1 Hit and HALO would be perfect if the melee damage was normalized.
Every game is entitled expand on and blend genres. There are a ton of arena shooter tropes that halo dropped in its first outing. It restricted you to 2 weapons, it had regenerating health, it added vehicles, grenades, and melee as a core part of the combat experience, it had slower base movement speed, and a ton of other differences. Your insistence that halo exactly matches a classic arena shooter is… Strange… Especially since it never was a strict classic arena shooter
Yeah in the “Lore” in the campaign / pve modes that they leave it like that, but in the multiplayer if they leave it like that, I don’t think it has a future in E-Sports and as you well know, any game is played in 2020 that does not have a good e-sports scene is dead in months.
Now this is comedy. Did you know that Halo 2 was one of the very very first big E-sports games? And - you guessed it! - the melee in that game functions in the exact same way as it does in Infinite today.
lol I’m sorry. Are you new to Halo? Genuine question. Because if you are, I’ll have to reiterate what others before me have said and inform you again that this has been here since Combat Evolved in 2001. It’s part of Halo. It’s part of the core triangle. Guns, grenades, melee. You aren’t going to see a nerf because it does not need one.
Tell me you’re a kid who’s never played halo a single time in your life without telling me you’re a kid who’s never played halo a single time in your life
“Was” past tense, Halo SAGA has had serious multiplayer issues in its last two games and is no longer what it was in HALO-REACH.
At this time HALO comes from behind as a “small game” to compete with the TITANS in the market. If HALO came with a successful delivery with a multiplayer around 50m-70 million of active DAILY-PLAYERS like fornite, apex, CoD-Warzone have “Ok” then they can do whatever they want.
Even OW maintains 8M active users today. If HALO does not deliver pure PERFECTION in its E-sport scene it will not survive
Halo INFINITE must outperform HALO-REACH in EVERYTHING at a minimum
First off kid, you owe halo a damn thank you that you even get to enjoy e sports. It in no small part helped popularize it. Like other people said. You want overwatch and apex mechanics then go play them cuz this game wasn’t made for you. Sit down and show respect.
Whether or not the guy played it in 2001 is irrelevant.
What matters is the present NOVEMBER 2021 and if the MELEE-HIT was allowed 20 years ago it does not mean that it has “Place” in the multiplayer and e-sports of HALO-INFINITE.
At this point I PREFER that as SUB-WEAPON they give us a SHOTGUN like GEARS and so at least one has to change the weapon to “kill up close”. It would be less OP than the melee hit
Halo 4 and 5 ended up with serious population problems because 343 decided to chase trends from other popular shooters and just generally change the tried-and-true Halo formula too much, which is ironically enough exactly what you are suggesting in this thread. Also your obsession with massive player counts is foolish - a game doesn’t need literally millions of players every day for it to be classed as ‘not dead’, it just needs enough to make regular full games readily available. I imagine the MCC didn’t have anywhere remotely near millions of people playing and yet I’ve been able to hop into matches in less than a minute at pretty much any time day or night. This next bit will probably blow your mind: I’ve even played a couple of PC shooters with populations in the very low hundreds that I wouldn’t even classify as dead because there was almost always a full server or three up on most days of the week.
I love how you applied some bogus stats, for games that aren’t even remotely arena shooters, as an argument for why an arena-like shooter should strictly adhere to the norms of other arena shooters.
Also I should point out since you keep bringing it up - melee is ONLY a one hit kill for sword or hammer OR if you hit someone in the back. That makes sense - it’s punishing a less aware player
For the reason that the multiplayer of HALO 4 and HALO 5 was terrible. YOU ARE ACKNOWLEDGING IT.
And you are “saying” that if you CANNOT KILL WITH 1 HIT WITH THE MELE in halo then the game “IS INSERVIBLE” “IS BAD”, basically HALO is the mele hit one shot? So little credit do you give the game as FPS ?.
Halo-Infinite is a GOOD game and it would be even better if they took away that BROKEN mechanic. Even as I repeat, giving the player a SHOTGUN as a sub-weapon to compensate for this mechanic would be MORE FUN than sticking with this gross mele hit thing would do more damage than a Rocket-launcher.
